There are so many reasons to love Younger, from the addictive nature of the fast-paced storylines, the love stories between Liza and Josh (and Liza and Charles), and the insight into book publishing. Fans have been anticipating season 7 as it's the last one, and now they can finally see what happens next.

It would be great to see a spin-off about Kelsey, and before that happens, fans have been tuning into these last episodes of Younger. What do fans really think of season 7? Let's take a look at what people have been saying.

The Charles/Liza Storyline

It's fun to learn behind the scenes facts about Younger as it has been such a popular show for the past few years. But while fans were really looking forward to this final season, it doesn't sound like many love how the plotlines have played out.

In the season 7 premiere, viewers found out that Liza told Charles that she didn't want to marry him. But while she wanted to stay together, he wasn't interested and said that if she wouldn't become his wife, he couldn't stay with her.

This was heartbreaking to watch and as it turns out, some fans didn't like this storyline at all.

One fan shared in a Reddit thread that they don't understand the way that Charles is acting. They wrote, "It is so frustrating. They had completely changed who he was. From the very beginning, Charles has been about lifting Liza up. He has been supportive of her career. Now to put him on an even playing field with Josh, they are changing him to be controlling. I don't get it."

Another fan wondered why Charles and Liza would split up and said it didn't seem like they would just push their relationship aside so easily.

In a Reddit thread discussion about episode 6, "The F Word," the general feeling is that the drama between Liza and Quinn isn't enjoyable to watch. Quinn set Liza up and told her campaign manager to lie to her, pretending that Quinn is only dating Charles so she can use his daughters and run for Governor. Liza embarrassed herself by telling Charles what she heard, but it turned out not be true, and Charles got mad.

Season 7 In General

A fan also started a Reddit thread and said that they hate season 7. They wrote, "I totally get that they filmed this through covid so adjustments had to be made, however storylines feel rushed and there’s a general lack of plausibility and overall flatness with show’s pace/dialogue."

The fan also shared their hope that the series finale makes up for the lackluster final season.

Several viewers said that they miss seeing marketing whiz Diana on the series. Her character is on an extended honeymoon because she has so much vacation time saved up, but it's definitely strange not to see this beloved character. Fans also noted that while Lauren is a fun "side character," she is getting too much screen time, as she's filling in for Diana at the publishing house. Fans would prefer to see Diana in her role.

Some fans also mentioned how it seems like because Charles is being mean to Liza, and Josh's new love interest didn't work out because she doesn't want to date someone who has a kid, perhaps that means that Liza will choose Josh in the end. Or it might mean that she doesn't choose anyone at all.

The Final Episode

While fans are crossing their fingers for an epic series finale, that's exactly what some of the cast members have been promising.

Sutton Foster said that fans will like the series finale. In an interview with TV Line, she said, “I had no idea how they were going to end it, but when I read the ending, I felt incredibly satisfied and realized, ‘Oh, there was no other way it could have ended. I mean, I guess it could have ended a million ways, but the way they ended it, I [gasped] and realized it was the perfect ending.”

Creator Darren Star shared with Entertainment Tonight that the season finale is an hour and he thinks it's what fans want to see. He said, "I'm really happy with this final episode that has twists and turns until the very, very last moment."

Fans are definitely eager to see the series finale and while many don't love this final group of episodes, there's a lot of hope in the air that Liza will pick her one true love and everyone will find happiness.
