Cory Hardrict Met Tia Mowry While Doing A Movie
Cory's extensive career didn't only earn him an impressive fortune. It also allowed him to meet the woman who would become his partner for 14 years.
In 1999, he got a role in a movie in which Tia Mowry happened to be working too, and that's how they met. It was a long time before they got married because at the time Tia wasn't really interested in a relationship.
"I met my husband Cory on the set of a movie we were both filming called Hollywood Horror in 1999," Tia explained.
"It was the last year of Sister, Sister and I had decided to embark on my first feature film. I wasn't really focused on boys at the time, since I was in my early 20s, juggling my career and going to school — however, while Cory and I were filming, he took a liking to me rather quickly," she added.
Cory Hardrict Felt Insecure In The Beginning Of Their Relationship
At the time the two of them met, Tia was already a very accomplished actress, while Cory was just starting. So, in the beginning, he felt somewhat inadequate. It helped that they started out as friends and that not only Tia but her whole family were incredibly welcoming.
"I had odd jobs. I worked at K-Mart, graveyard shift, security. That's when I was just grinding man. I met my wife during them days. She was with me. She was just coming out of Sister, Sister, but they had everything man and I didn't have anything. I had a studio apartment, sleeping in the corner, no furniture for almost two years," he shared.
"I was waiting on a bus stop — after I shot my first film. Her sister and her drove by, they saw me waiting and asked to give me a ride. I was embarrassed. I was downtown. They gave me a ride and we were friends ever since," Cory explained.
"They took me to Inglewood, so that's how that relationship started."
Tia Mowry Announced The Couple's Divorce
Most people reading that probably know by now that Tia was the one who filed for divorce after 14 years of marriage. While she didn't give many details about the inner workings of their decision, she said she wanted to be honest and open about her life.
"I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different," she started her statement.
"I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives."
After she announced their separation and consequent divorce, people started to speculate about why it might have happened, and rumors about infidelity from Cory's side arose.
The actor was quick to shut them down, though, claiming that they were "Lies!"
The details that are available to the public are that Tia cited irreconcilable differences and that she is requesting joint physical and legal custody of their children.
