Over the last several years, the movie industry has been absolutely dominated by a long list of different movie franchises, most notably the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to the MCU’s years of success in 2020 but there is every reason in the world to think that franchise will rise like a phoenix once again.

As a result of the fact that the MCU has become so popular, Marvel announces the series upcoming movies and shows years in advance which helps fans know what to expect from the franchise. On the other end of the spectrum, when Jackass fans learned there was going to be a fourth film in the series, it left them with a lot of unanswered questions.

Ever since the stars of Jackass first became famous, most of them have proven time and time again that they love taking part in interviews. With that in mind, you may assume that fans of the group know quite a bit about what has been going on with Jackass 4. However, the truth of the matter is that many people who would look forward to Jackass 4 have no idea that the movie is in the works, let alone what to expect from it.

Lasting Legacy

When Jackass the TV show debuted on MTV in the year 2000, nobody had any idea that the series would become such a big sensation. A legendary show for most teens and young adults from that era, the series would go on to make several of its stars very famous, especially Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, and Bam Margera. In fact, the show’s stars became popular enough that MTV had to pay them a decent amount of money over time. Of course, the show’s most famous cast members got paid more than the lesser-known ones.

After the third season of Jackass came to an end in 2002, the series continued on the big screen. After people showed up in droves to see Jackass: The Movie in theaters, the film was released on home media and made even more money. With that in mind, it makes sense that Jackass Number Two went into production less than five years later and Jackass 3D came out in a similar timeframe

Tragedy Hits

After the release of Jackass 3D in 2010, the stars of the series seemed to be at an all-time high. Then all of them were dealt a huge blow when one of the series’ stars suddenly lost their life at a young age and in a horrible fashion.

While Ryan Dunn never was the most famous member of the Jackass crew, it could be argued that he was more likable than any of his co-stars. Always able to come across as a sweetheart, even when he was pranking his pals in mind-boggling ways, Dunn always seemed to have a smile on his face.

Sadly, in 2011 Ryan Dunn met his untimely demise when he was driving at high speeds late at night and his car hit a tree and burst into flames. In the aftermath, Jackass fans came together to mourn Dunn. Of course, the stars of Jackass took his loss extremely hard, which was especially damaging to Bam Margera who would go on to deal with addiction issues for years afterward. Fortunately, Margera’s life has been back on track of late. That said, the devastation that the Jackass cast felt at that time unsurprisingly put an end to any plans for a fourth movie in the series for a long time.

Jackass Comeback

A few years after Ryan Dunn’s tragic passing, Johnny Knoxville starred in 2013’s Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, and many fans of the series loved that movie. However, that film simply wasn’t the same as a full-fledged fourth Jackass movie. Then, over the last few years, there were some whispers of a fourth Jackass movie becoming a reality, and in 2020 filming actually commenced.

Considering that it has been more than a decade since Jackass 3D was filmed, fans may expect that its sequel will be somewhat toned down. After all, the franchise’s stars have gotten a lot older and people know a lot more about the consequences of head trauma now. However, based on all of the available information about Jackass 4, it seems like it will be as intense as ever.

If you are looking for proof that Jackass 4 won’t be for the faint of heart, all you have to do is look at the amazing stunt Steve-O pulled off in 2020. Wanting to promote a special he was releasing, Steve-O had himself taped to a billboard that was attached to a truck. Steve-O then had Johnny Knoxville hit baseballs at him with a bat and then remained taped to the billboard as it was driven at high speeds on a highway.

Another reason why it seems obvious that Jackass 4 won’t pull punches is that Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O reportedly were hospitalized only two days into filming. On top of that, in 2018 Knoxville hinted that the movie may include new cast members “to bring some fresh blood into it”. Assuming Knoxville follows through and brings new cast members into the fold, you know they’ll go all out to prove they belong.
