He may not have made headlines for almost 20 years at this point, but most folks still know who Eamon is. At least, they remember who he is as soon as they hear a few lines of his song 'F*** It (I Don't Want You Back).'

The song was definitely not PG-rated, but it was super catchy. But after that song blew up the charts -- and coined a genre called 'Ho-Wop' -- what happened to the artist behind the hit single?

What Happened To Eamon After 'I Don't Want You Back'?

Though he was credited with cementing Ho-Wop as a genre, Eamon's combination of R&B and hip-hop wasn't really anything new. What was new and catchy was Eamon's use of expletives, called "aggressive lyrics," and the scandal that followed.

Listeners of the era will remember that Frankee, an artist who was essentially unknown at the time, wrote and performed a retort to Eamon's song. In fact, she claimed to be his ex-girlfriend and the person at whom the song was directed.

Eamon denied that he'd written the song about her, or that he ever dated her in the first place, but the controversy only enhanced the public's obsession with the song. It's almost the early '00s version of the Olivia Rodrigo-Joshua-Bassett-Sabrina Carpenter scenario.

But it was good news for the artist's fame: after Eamon's song became a global hit, he was able to secure a full album contract. Of the drama surrounding Frankee, Eamon even noted, "It's all good though. Everytime it gets played, I get paid."

So how far did the infamy of the song carry him? Straight into 2021 (although, unlike other artists, he hasn't had hits in every decade).

Eamon Is Still Recording Music (But Of A Tamer Variety)

Fortunately for fans, Eamon is very active on Instagram, and he's quite aware of the impact his first hit song has had on music over the years. In fact, he even reshared a video of Cardi B singing the song, elaborating on how crazy it is that his song is still relevant.

After all, detractors said he'd have his fifteen minutes of fame and then fizzle out. And while Eamon hasn't always remained in the spotlight, he's still writing and recording music. His last full album came out in 2017, but Eamon has also been releasing singles consistently over the years.

That's not all he's been up to, though.

Eamon Has A Family Now, And He Takes Life Seriously

Eamon seems to look back on his time in the era of 'I Don't Want You Back' with a bit of self-deprecation. Judging by his Instagram, he's cleaned up his act quite a bit since the early 2000s, and he's now married with a baby.

He dedicates a lot of his feed to praising his wife, discussing car seat safety, and talking about family ties and the importance of living an authentic life (with way more religious vibes than he ever gave off in his first hit song). Not too shabby!
