Before Two and a Half Men made its television debut in 2003, most observers had low expectations for the series. That makes perfect sense considering that a lot of the time when movie stars have joined the cast of TV shows, the results have been less than successful. On top of that, Charlie Sheen was the star of the show and at that time, he hadn’t headlined a hit movie in years.

Despite the low expectations that most people had for Two and a Half Men, the series would go on to be a major hit for all involved. On the air for twelve seasons, the show even managed to remain a hit after its original star left the series amidst a massive scandal.

Of course, once an actor stars in a hit show for many years, it can be hard for them to find success in other roles. On the other hand, Jon Cryer has enjoyed a great deal of success since Two and a Half Men came to an end. With all of that in mind, it begs an obvious question, what has Melanie Lynskey been up to since she left Two and a Half Men?

Rise To Fame

In 1994, the Peter Jackson film Heavenly Creatures was released. While the movie wasn’t a blockbuster hit like some of Jackson’s other films, it introduced the cinema world to Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet. After all, Lynskey and Winslet were both excellent in the film which was their movie debut. More importantly, in the years since the release of Heavenly Creatures, both actors have proven how talented they are.

From 1994 until 2003, Melanie Lynskey was the secret weapon that a lot of film producers employed. After all, she could always be counted on to bring depth and warmth to whatever character she played. Despite that, it wasn’t until she was cast as Two and Half Men’s Rose that Lynskey really became famous. Thankfully for everyone involved with that show, Lynskey was the perfect person to bring Rose to life as she managed to make the character lovable despite her often extreme antics.

Still Going Strong

In terms of mainstream popularity, there is absolutely no doubt that Melanie Lynskey’s career reached its peak during her years starring in Two and a Half Men. However, it could easily be argued that Lynskey’s career has actually improved since that show came to an end. After all, Lynskey has starred in one critically acclaimed role after another since then.

Released in 2017, a lot of people would argue that I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore is the best movie or TV show that Melanie Lynskey has ever headlined. Absolutely amazing in the film, Lynskey’s I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore performance could be the best of her career. On top of that, Elijah Wood is also excellent in the film and he clearly can relate to continuing your acting career after starring in a huge project.

Over the last six years, Melanie Lynskey has also starred in other well-received films including And Then I Go, Sadie, and The Intervention. On top of the films that Lynskey has recently starred in, she has taken on a long list of television roles. On top of all the success that Melanie Lynskey has enjoyed in her career, her personal life appears to have improved immensely since Two and a Half Men ended. After all, Lynskey’s first marriage sadly came to an end near the end of her Two and a Half Men tenure. As it turns out, however, that appears to be a good thing as she seems to have found the perfect partner since then.

Linked to Jason Ritter for many years at this point, Melanie Lynskey announced that she had agreed to marry him in 2017. Considering that Ritter is widely believed to be among the nicest guys in Hollywood and he is good-looking as well, Lynskey seems to have hit the jackpot. It also is a great thing that Lynskey and Ritter seem so happy together as they welcomed their first child into the world in 2018.

On top of building a family, Melanie Lynskey seems to have found contentment in herself according to what she said during a 2016 ABC News interview. While talking about her eating issues during that interview, Lynskey said she “was losing (her) mind trying to conform to something that was not physically possible for (her)”. In fact, Lynskey revealed that she was so unhappy with the situation that her hair started to fall out. Thankfully, she eventually concluded that she needed to change her thinking about the subject.

"I was like, 'I just need to look the way I'm supposed to look' and have faith that people are going to want to put someone in a film or on a show who looks like this," Lynskey said. "I did have to truly become comfortable with myself, because you can't fake it."
