Some actors enjoy performing their own stunts, even if they might be considered dangerous. Others make the decision to use a stunt person for a variety of reasons, which is understandable. Certain stunts included in some films are incredibly dangerous!

According Hola!, Cruise discussed his dangerous stunt for the film Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning and what it involved him doing. The Vanilla Sky actor stated, "This is far and away the most dangerous thing we've ever attempted, we're going to shoot it in Norway, and it will be a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a base jump."

Sharing a video with his fans, and anyone else interested in checking out his most dangerous stunt yet on social media, the Days of Thunder star gave viewers an inside look at what he was doing to prepare for the stunt.

According to etonline, when talking about the dangerous performance, Cruise said, "I've wanted to do this since I was a little kid. It all comes down to one thing - the audience."

Continuing, Cruise stated "I have to get so good at this that there's just no way I miss my marks." He also added later in the video, "You train and drill every little aspect, over and over and over again."

Discussing the stunt, the Mission: Impossible actor said, "The key is me hitting certain speeds and being consistent with that. There's no speedometer, so I do it by sound and feel of the bike. And then as I depart the bike, I'm using the wind that's hitting me here (he seems to be referring to his upper chest area in the video), and I'm cupping my chest, that will give me lift."

In the video Cruise can be seen discussing the jump with his team, commenting, "don't be careful, be confident."

Tom Cruise has performed many stunts throughout his career, and some of them have been pretty dangerous. While many actors have performed numerous dangerous stunts throughout their careers, the Top Gun actor is by far probably the best known actor for his dedication to his risky roles and performing his own stunts.

Tom Cruise is pretty well-known for partaking in grueling training for his stunt work. According to etonline, Wade Eastwood, the stunt coordinator for Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning, discussed Cruise's preparation.

Eastwood said that the daredevil A-lister "underwent a year of base training, advanced sky-dive training, a lot of canopy skills and a lot of tracking in preparation for the stunt."

A large ramp was built for Cruise to ride a motorcycle off of a cliff. He reportedly "did 30 jumps a day to perfect every aspect of the stunt." According to the video he put out, "he has performed over 13,000 (jumps) in total."

There have been a few other actors besides Tom Cruise who have chosen to perform their own stunts, even if some of them have had major risks. Some might to it because they are well-trained to perform those stunts, like Cruise, others might choose to for numerous other reasons.

Although Cruise's intense training and preparation can show how important the stunt, and his work overall, are to the actor, several people who worked with him also spoke highly of his dedication and preparation for the dangerous stunt.

According to the New York Post, Cruise's coach, Miles Daisher, commented that the Jerry McGuire actor is "an amazing individual", and said, "You tell him something, and he just he locks it in. Daisher added about Cruise, "His sense of spatial awareness, he's the most aware person I've ever met."

The film's writer and director Christopher McQuarrie stated that "there's a lot going into this stunt. Tom put together this master plan to coordinate all of these experts in each of the particular disciplines involved to make this whole thing happen." It seems filming the stunt was also a challenge.

McQuarrie discussed filming the stunt, commenting, "Coming up with the stunt is only one of the technical challenges. The other is putting a camera in a place that you can see Tom doing it. Finding the right lens, the right platform, the right medium. Even two years ago, the cameras didn't exist that would allow us to do what we are trying to do today."

The writer/director added, "This is far and away the most dangerous stunt we have ever attempted. The only thing that scares me more is what we have planned for Mission 8."
