A vampire and a rockstar. Is there a more perfect match?

We've loved Caroline Forbes from The Vampire Diaries since she came into her own as a badass vampire and we've always loved The Fray. So when Candice Accola married the band's guitarist, Joe King in 2014, it was a match made in heaven for us, that we didn't know was even possible.

While other TVD co-stars were dating each other, Accola dated outside the cast and has had a successful relationship ever since. Even though there was a lot of drama with her co-stars, she loved her time on the CW show and carried on playing Caroline for a bit after it ended, on the spin-off The Originals.

TVD, in turn, loved her so much that they wrote her first pregnancy with King into the show. Here's how the King's are doing today, especially since baby number two recently arrived.

They Met Through Nina Dobrev

Two years into dating Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev thought she should help her friend and co-star find love as well, to share in the good times, and maybe even go on double dates. Every girl wants this.

So Dobrev introduced Accola to King at DirecTV's 2012 Celebrity Beach Bowl, where she and Somerhalder were seen acting lovey-dovey themselves.

"I was too chicken to give him my number, so Nina did," Accola told People in 2013.

Shortly after, Accola and King started dating. She even appeared in The Fray's music video for, "Love Don't Die."

Their love didn't die, though, it only got stronger. Just a year into dating, King proposed to Accola while on vacation in Florence, Italy. They announced their engagement on Accola's Instagram.

In 2014, the pair married in a beautiful New Orleans wedding. It was one big vampire wedding, because most of her TVD co-stars attended, as did the show's creators and writers.

Unlike most celebrities, the King's wedding was widely shared with fans on social media and they even shared their wedding video which showed the couple and their wedding guest dancing and having a good time in the streets of the French Quarter.

Accola wore Monique Lhuillier, and King wore Tom Ford, and the bride walked down the aisle to music by Trombone Shorty.

Her First Pregnancy Was Written Into 'TVD'

After their wedding, the pair were seen continuously out and about, going to football games, and other vacations. They seem to like to take pictures in scenic places, with King dipping Accola in a kiss.

A year into their marriage, and three years into their relationship, Accola posted a picture of them the day they met at that 2012 Celebrity Beach Bowl.

Accola is a stepmother to King's two daughters, Ava and Elise, but the family was due to get another member when Accola announced she was pregnant in August 2015.

Accola wrote, "Sometimes a Saturday is best spent painting t-shirts and taking an awesome family photo. Happy Monday everybody! #ThatAintNoBurritoinMyBelly," alongside a family photo featuring her, King, and his daughters pointing at Accola's belly.

When the announcement was made, a lot of TVD fans were both happy for the actress and scared for her character at the same time. What would this mean for Caroline? Were they going to hide her pregnancy by strategically placing objects in front of her? Surely a vampire can't be pregnant, at least in the world of TVD? Or can she?

It was revealed in the episode "Best Served Cold," that Caroline could be pregnant, by magic. Jo, who was pregnant with twins, was killed by her brother Kai, but to save the babies, they were magically implanted into Caroline. So until Accola gave birth, she played Caroline the vampire surrogate.

Accola posted about her TVD stunt double during her pregnancy on and off-screen, saying, "Episode 702. Thank goodness for kick-ass stunt doubles like Jessica Meredith this season!" During her real pregnancy, she even got to meet Pope Francis.

Then in January 2016, Accola gave birth to Florence May King, who was named after the city where King proposed.

When Florence was still an infant, Accola took her daughter to the studio to visit and "puke on daddy." That summer the couple got tickets to see the Broadway musical, Hamilton.

In 2017, Accola said goodbye to playing Caroline, at least on TVD, but not before she got to take little Florence to set a couple of times. She was back playing her character in The Originals not long after TVD ended.

Since then, Accola has done a lot of traveling with King and their daughter. They've taken trips to Disney, Paris, and Rome.

She Just Had Baby No. 2

This past August, the King's announced that they were pregnant with baby number two. Accola shared the news on her podcast Directionally Challenged, which she co-hosts with her TVD co-star, Kayla Ewell.

"Something I have not shared yet on this podcast is that I'm actually pregnant," Accola King said in an episode. "I've got a bun in the oven."
"I'm a little over five months, so it's been the entirety of the whole quarantine experience and everything that 2020 has brought us this year, and it's been a journey to say the least." [EMBED_INSTA]https://www.instagram.com/p/CFVvKwzn9wG/[/EMBED_INSTA] She didn't share the news earlier because she wanted to feel "comfortable and confident that I'm in a good place in pregnancy and that, you know, my baby's okay and I'm okay as best as we can be. But I'm finally at that place right now, which feels really good," she said. She gave birth to Josephine June in December, and King wrote on his social media that she looks just like her mother. So it would seem that the King's have their hands full, constantly traveling, touring, and raising two little girls. Let's hope they have a little bit of Caroline in them.
