Machine Gun Kelly is making a name for himself in music, but at the same time, staying true to himself is a priority. He's pretty outspoken, and he's not afraid of earning attention (whether positive or negative) for things like calling out Eminem or dating Megan Fox.

Of course, MGK does say that his 'feud' with Eminem has impacted his career, but fans may argue it brought him some much-needed attention in the tabloids. After all, nothing propels an artist into the spotlight more than beef with another artist (this one a major contender in the rap genre).

Machine Gun Kelly also earns attention for his music, of course, especially his videos. From collabs with Halsey to matching up with TikTokers, the rapper isn't afraid of taking chances. He's also not concerned about posing nearly nude for publications like SpinMag.

Thirsty fans didn't mind that at all, of course, and it did provide a better glimpse of all of MGK's tattoos. While the meaning of some of them is pretty clear (that specific plant tat on his knee, for example), others are a bit more muddled.

Take, for example, Kelly's tattoo of a double-decker bus. But fortunately for fans, there's a pretty simple explanation for why MGK opted for a tat of an English double-decker bus.

As Yahoo! News recounted, Machine Gun Kelly was hit by a bus a few years back. It was in 2013 (the bus's numbers commemorate the date; "five, eleven, 13"), and the American rapper made a misstep while crossing the street.

Forgetting about the traffic differences (US drivers operate on the right side, UK on the left), MGK only checked traffic one way, then stepped off the curb directly into the path of a double-decker bus.

Like the bus in his tattoo, the windshield of the red bus showed evidence of the accident, but Machine Gun Kelly was, shockingly, just fine afterward. In an interview, he explained that his face hit first, noted Yahoo! News, and that all he remembered afterward was "waking up and everyone screaming."

The rapper was fortunate; "three MRIs, a cat scan, all this stuff" showed that nothing was wrong internally, even though doctors were stumped. MGK recalled that they were surprised he'd had no internal bleeding or fractures, especially given the condition of the bus after the incident.

For his part, Machine Gun Kelly admitted that he used to be afraid of death, but that accident gave him a reality check on mortality. These days, MGK is confident that "we've been here before and we've died before." Deep stuff...

But really, the tattoo is probably a stark reminder that life really is fleeting, even for the rich and famous.
