That's the premise of Love Is Blind, the Netflix reality series that everyone was obsessed with at the start of 2020. People sat in pods and chatted with each other, and some of them even proposed without ever meeting IRL. While there was regular reality TV editing, the contestants really did like being in the pods, and that made it a lot of fun to watch.
Jessica Batten and Mark Cueveas were one of the most memorable couples on Love Is Blind. Now Jessica is dating someone new, but this relationship was filled with so much drama that people are still curious about what happened.

Mark's Side Of The Story
After the couples got engaged, they lived in an apartment building, met each other's families, and got ready for their wedding. Jessica and Mark are famous for having one major problem: Jessica was 34 and Mark was 24, and she was concerned with the age difference. When fans watched the wedding episode, they saw Jessica tell Mark that she couldn't marry him after all.
Mark told Entertainment Weekly that it was a "blessing in disguise." He explained in an interview, "But the experience was so intense, I wasn’t even mad at her. I was upset and disappointed but I wasn’t angry. It just hurt, you know? You think for a little while, what’s wrong with me? What could have gone differently? But that is a recipe for misery. Mark also shared that while it looked like the couples were spending weeks together in their apartment before the wedding, Jessica went back to work. He said "she was hustlin’ doing her thing" and that while the couples were supposed to spend two weeks in the apartment, he said, "I got maybe one of those weeks." He said he understood because she cared a lot about her career.
Jessica's Surprising Revelation
It seems shocking for a couple to get engaged without seeing each other, spend weeks together, and then decide not to get married after all.
But Jessica tells her own side of the story and has a surprising revelation: she wanted to leave the show early.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jessica said, "Okay. Yeah, I mean, I had to stay. I definitely had a conversation about leaving and I wasn’t able to do that. My dog got sick too, and almost died during the show, I had so much other stuff going on."
Jessica continued that she could tell that it wouldn't work with Mark and didn't want to remain on the show: "It was really frustrating because I kind of knew [Mark and I] weren’t going to get there. I definitely had some conversations and attempted to leave, but I wasn’t able to."
Jessica also said that it was "difficult" to plan the wedding as she knew that she didn't love him the way that she should in order to get married. She mentioned that they did have a bond and friendship.
The LC Drama
There's another part of the story of Jessica and Mark: LC Chamblin and Mark were dating in May 2020 and someone posted on Reddit that they worked with someone who was in a relationship with Mark. According to Glamour, LC then realized that he wasn't being faithful to her.
Love Is Blind fans will remember LC as she was in the pods at the beginning of the show.
The publication notes that people started saying that Mark was sleeping with several people while filming Love Is Blind and Jessica said, “Wow. News to me, I only knew about one.” This comment, of course, made people wonder if Mark was with someone other than Jessica.
Of course, no one knows the real story here, but it does sound odd.
