When Sarah Jessica Parker announced the reboot on her Instagram earlier this year, fans who’ve long awaited the return of the iconic crew rejoiced, but they also instantly had major questions. And of course, rumors and opinions started swirling – what’s Sex and the City without a little bit of drama anyway?

Titled And Just Like That... (if you’re a SATC enthusiast, you’ll be familiar with the line), the upcoming HBO Max series will follow the lives of the ladies in their '50s – that in itself is quite indicative of all the changes they may have experienced since their story ended back in 2004. And, with a lot of cosmos – not tea – that have recently been spilled, there’s a lot we want to share with you. Get ready to be even more envious of the columnist’s wardrobe, for more love stories, a leather chair (maybe?), and more complicated friendships.

Here’s all you need to know about the continuation of the six-season franchise.

10 Bye-Bye Mr. Big

Ouch – this one hurts! Carrie’s on-again, off-again beau, Mr. Big, played by the convincing and alluring Chris Noth, will not be lingering around this time. It appears Big has finally stepped down as Bradshaw's one and only!

After years of speculation, we're wondering how will we view the next chapter of the New Yorker's lives without THE most vital man in Carrie’s messy love life? There may be a glimmer of hope though, as Us Weekly confirmed that the man who made the shoe addict’s life a constant rollercoaster hasn’t confirmed whether or not he’ll appear in the bustling New York.

9 Jones No More

Although we grew up watching four best friends tackle the societal issues of the period they were in, things will be a little different this time around. Yes, one of the four peppy and loveable, yet different ladies, will not be joining the cast. You may have already heard at the time of the announcement, but Kim Cattrall, who played the feisty and one-of-a-kind Samanta Jones, will not show us how it’s done in her 50s. If there’s one thing we learned from Candace Bushnell’s book and show though, is that friendships do indeed fade.

In order to address certain “catfight” gossip that had been circulating for some time between Parker and Cattrall, in a Today article, Parker stated, “No. I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would.” We're glad she addressed rumors of the so-called feud.

8 What Happens To Samantha Then?

With the eccentric Samantha gone, enthusiasts of the cultural phenomenon wondered what exactly would happen to her character in the story of the next chapter.

However, thankfully, in February 2021, HBO Max denied such a thing happening to Samantha Jones, and gave a very Sex and the City-like response. Casey Bloys, who’s the chief content officer told TV Line, “just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave.”

So, how will the reboot explain her absence? We don’t know as of yet, but we can find some comfort in Bloys' honest statement, “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life… They're trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York.”

7 Aidan Will Waltz Back In

And Just Like That… the one that got away, the handsome furniture maker, aka Carrie’s fiancé, will make an entrance. If this isn’t a major revelation for the revival, we don’t know what is.

His return has us pondering so many possibilities for Carrie’s love life since their chemistry still appeared very apparent in the franchise's Sex and the City 2 film. In recent news, John Corbett confirmed with Page Six that he’ll be returning for the limited series. Bradshaw’s other hunky love interest said in the interview, “I’m going to do the show, I think I might be in quite a few [episodes].”

We’re glad this return is no longer up in the air – and we’re sure those who are #TeamAiden are psyched for the return of the man with the leather chair.

So, we know Kim Cattrall will not return, but headed back to HBO Max alongside Parker will be her other lifelong best friends, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbs and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York. These ladies definitely don’t need an introduction!

Back in January, the costars shared to Instagram one after the other a clip teasing the return of the show that takes place in the infamous bustling streets of New York. With that, Davis wrote, "Anything is possible....Meet you there!" and Nixon added, "You, me, New York...anything is possible." This reboot has been a long time coming, and we knew Bradshaw couldn’t continue the journey of life without her ride or dies.

The show that became a cultural phenomenon when creator Darren Star brought author Candace Bushnell’s vision to life, has always adapted to the times.

Just like the pandemic has impacted all our lives, Parker, confirmed in an interview with Vanity Fair that it would also alter the storyline. The actress went on to say that COVID-19 will “obviously be part of the storyline, because that's the city [these characters] live in. ... And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all."

4 A Limited Series

A book, a lifestyle, and a show – that’s what Sex and the City is to us all. The revolutionizing television show that ended in 2004 will be back for 10 episodes. The show that changed the way women see themselves will return, as per The Hollywood Reporter, with Parker, Nixon, and Davis credited as executive producers.

The limited series is set to contain 10 half-hour episodes, which we’re used to as SATC fans. Michael Patrick King, the original executive producer of the show that redefined women’s relationships, has returned, but no release date has been spilled as of yet.

3 The Writing Has Begun

The column that was adapted for HBO back in 1998 will now follow a different story. Bloys told TV Line back in February, “they’re not trying to redo Sex and the City.

And we may not have a date for the premiere of the modern series, but according to Us Weekly, it was reported that writers began their scribbling in January. And, as a show that broke barriers and elevated the perception of singlehood, Vanity Fair gave us a heads up that the writers are all women. How incredible is that?

As for production, Vanity Fair confirmed that late spring is the expected timeline.

2 What About Steve?

The show was definitely a love letter to New York that included a whole lot of love entanglements. Bradshaw wasn’t the only one to fall head over heels (or Manolos) in the series! As you may recall, lawyer Miranda Hobbs did, too. Yes, we’re talking about her lover Steve, who was played by David Eigenberg.

When asked about the possibility of him returning to cherished series, the fan-favorite told Us Weekly, “I really love that show. I think it’s really interesting that they’ve brought it back.” He added that he’d love to work with Nixon again – and we’d love for that, too. We’ll just have to wait and see!

1 Any Other Surprises?

A new chapter calls for a new storyline for the now 50-year-old friends!

However, that doesn’t mean we won’t see more familiar faces. You may recall that Justin Theroux was a part of the infamous cast, playing the role of a novelist. When E! News approached the actor about the reboot, a witty response came forward, “Let me check my email or see if anyone called. I still have no email from Sarah Jessica. Yeah, of course I would love to. If they wanted to have me, I’d do Sex and The City again.”

We cannot wait to see how the ladies (and men) of Sex and the City will change the way we think and love this time.
