It seems like every entry in Bravo's Real Housewives franchise is super popular. Fans love watching women in New Jersey, New York, Atlanta, Orange County, Potomac, and Beverly Hills as it's fun to see how these cast members live. Recently, fans have gotten the chance to watch season one of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and people have been talking quite a lot about that new city.

It was recently announced that the Real Housewives of Miami would be coming back to TV. The original series went off the air after three seasons, but what went wrong? Why was it canceled? Let's take a look.

Another Reality Show?

Many of the Real Housewives cast members are super rich and part of the enjoyment factor of tuning into each new episode is seeing these fabulous lifestyles.

The ladies of RHOM did dress well and live fabulously, and it had the fighting and drama that the franchise is famous for, so why was the show taken off the air?

Lea Black says that RHOM was originally another reality series. According to The List, the reality star spoke about the subject on Lunch With Lea, her YouTube series, back in 2016.

Lea said, "I always feel like Miami didn't have its own identity." Why? Because when the cast members began shooting, the show was Miami Social Club. But later, Bravo said it would become a Real Housewives show and RHOM was born.

Lea also said, "Because I'm respectful of Bravo and respectful of the network, I don't want to speak on their behalf. ...So I always say, you know, 'Always leave them wanting more!' or, 'Well I don't know, did the fat lady sing?'" she said. "And I just try to sidestep the question because I don't think it's my place to say anything but now that it's been announced that the show was not coming back because [Andy Cohen] said 'It just didn't work out.'"

A 2014 TMZ story said that RHOM could go off the air, and talk was that Joanna Krupa wanted to appear on another Real Housewives show, such as RHOBH or RHOC.

What Andy Cohen Says

Andy Cohen said that RHOM's ratings kept decreasing and that is the reason for stopping the series.

According to Cheat Sheet, Andy was watching the show recently and said, "It looks like a well-lit telenovela. The women are so beautiful. And the men and Miami. People ask me about Miami all the time and say will you ever bring it back?”

He continued, “The reason that we let it go was, I remember the ratings went down toward the end of the season. Which never happens. Like it went down for the reunion, and if it’s going down toward the end that’s just never a good sign. But anyway, I hear your love all the time and really appreciate the show and the women.”

It's interesting that Andy Cohen noted that ratings for the Real Housewives franchise don't tend to decrease when a season is wrapping up. Fans of the Bravo franchise would probably all agree that every new episode just leaves them wanting more and more.

According to The Wrap, season one of The Real Housewives of Miami had an average rating of 1.16 million viewers and season two had 1.06 million. By season three, it was 1.02 million. As the publication explained, "Ratings play a huge part in the decision-making process for series renewals as they dictate advertising rates, a network’s bread and butter. In the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic, “Miami” attracted an average 574,000 viewers, a steady double-digit percentage decrease since Season 1, an eight percent decrease over Season 2."

According to an article in Entertainment Weekly, Larsa Pippen only appeared in season one, and Cristy Rice as well. The reporter found that in contrast to the short-lived The Real Housewives of D.C.RHOM had cast members with fun personality traits, but the ratings weren't wonderful.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Andy Cohen announced he wanted a new RHOM in November 2020. He said he was discussing it with Peacock.

When he appeared on a podcast called Everything Iconic, he said, "I have really been trying to get Peacock to pick up Miami. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this. I don’t know where we are with that. I have to say the fans of Miami are still very vocal, and so I’ve been an advocate for Peacock bringing back Miami.”

Fans are definitely curious to see what the next season of the Real Housewives of Miami will look like.
