The 90s is a decade that featured a number of incredible movies, and while this is great, the decade also had a number of great shows, as well. Some ended too soon, some lasted too long, and some have fans banging the drums for a reboot. Just look at the top shows from the decade and try to not be impressed.

One of the most popular sitcoms from the decade was Step by Step, which featured Brandon Call. He was a successful young actor who seems to have gone all but missing since his days on the show.

Let’s look and see what happened to Brandon Call after Step by Step.

Beginning his career back before the age of 10, Brandon Call was putting in a ton of work to eventually make it in Hollywood. It can be easy for a young performer to get lost in the shuffle, but clearly, studios and networks loved what the young actor was bringing to the table, and this ultimately led to him amassing some impressive acting credits that built up to his casting on Step by Step.

During the 80s, the young Brandon did some film work, scoring projects like The Black Cauldron, Jagged Edge, Blind Fury, and Warlock during the decade. These were some solid credits for the young actor, and he made the most of his opportunities. Interestingly, his role in The Black Cauldron was voice acting role, showing that he was capable of more than just performing in front of the camera.

On television, things were going even better for the young performer. He clearly had something that people liked, because he was seemingly booking gigs left and right from a young age. Call would make appearances on hit shows like Baywatch, Webster, and Magnum, P.I. during the decade, which is quite the feat. He even did some work on soap operas.

This was great for the young performer, and it certainly played a part in Call being in consideration to star on Step by Step.

‘Step By Step’ Was A Huge Break

Debuting back in 1991, Step by Step was able to find its place in a crowded sitcom market to become a hit on television. The series used stars like Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Somers as mainstream anchors, but it would be the young stars that kept people coming back for more. Needless to say, Call was a perfect match for the character, J.T., and he played a part in the show’s success.

From 1991 to 1998, the show was able to maintain its place in living rooms everywhere, building up its own legacy during a decade that featured classic sitcoms like Seinfeld. Sure, it does not have the same type of legacy as shows like Seinfeld, but when looking back at the 90s, Step by Step is certainly considered one of the moist memorable shows of the entire decade.

After years of success in acting, including a hugely popular television series, many people would expect that Brandon Call would have continued to land roles, but this was not the case. Instead, the actor made a major change in his life and subsequently left the industry altogether.

He Stopped Acting After The Show Ended

Despite putting in years of work and eventually finding a hit show, Brandon Call called it a career after Step by Step finished its run on television in 1998. This was a huge surprise to many people, and there could have been a number of reasons why this took place. The former actor has remained almost completely out of the spotlight over the years.

He did make headlines for a traffic incident back in 1996 that led to him being shot.

According to the Associated Press, “Call, now 20, was driving when he noticed another vehicle tailgating him. The actor turned down a side street in an effort to lose the menacing motorist, but it was a dead-end road. Lewis fired six times at Call’s vehicle, wounding the actor on both arms.”

In more recent news with the former actor, it has been reported by the Gazette Review that Call is currently operating a gas station. Some sites have suggested that he owns the gas station, while other suggest that he works at a gas station owned by his parents. Acting has not been in the cards for the actor in a long time, but this does not diminish what he accomplished during the 80s and 90s.

Brandon Call clearly did well for himself during his acting career, and after Step by Step finished up, Call moved on and left Hollywood behind.
