Kimberly Ann Scott, sometimes known as Kim Mathers, gained fame back in the late '90s after dating rapper Eminem for nearly a decade. After welcoming their first and only child, Hailie Mathers, together in 1995, the duo decided to make things official and tied the knot back in 1999.

Although things were great for a while, the two found themselves in some rocky waters and ended things only two years later. Kim and Eminem had a lot of back and forth, including a second marriage and divorce, both of which happened in 2006.

Since then, Kim Mathers has found a passion for writing children's books and has made quite a successful career off that. And it turns out that Eminem and his ex-wife aren't on the worst terms these days.

Eminem's Ex-Wife Has Moved On With Her Life...

After many years as an off-and-on couple, Kim Mathers seems to be on decent terms with her ex Eminem, but she's had some personal struggles in life, too.

Kim Mathers' most notorious relationship to date is with the real Slim Shady himself, Eminem. The two first met when Kim was only 13 and Eminem was 15 at a house party.

They seem to have locked eyes and instantly hit it off that night, and the rest appears to be history.

However, their relationship was never steady and often filled with fighting, drama, and breakups.

After first meeting one another at a house party over 30 years ago, Kim and Eminem were quite the "it" couple. At least, for a time.

The two dated all throughout high school and were each other's high school sweethearts. Things may have been easier back then for the two, but they quickly became complicated.

From drinking out of red solo cups at a house party in 1988, to champagne out of a flute glass at their 1999 wedding, Kim and Eminem had been through it all.

The two officially tied the knot two years after their daughter was born, however, they divorced two years later.

While people thought the duo was done for good, especially given Eminem's comments about marriage, and how he'd rather give birth through his private parts, they decided to remarry in 2006, and divorce for the second time the same year.

As mentioned, Eminem and Kim had a daughter together back in 1995. It's unclear whether their daughter was planned, but she quickly became Eminem's whole world, featuring in his music as both a theme and a backup vocalist.

The duo welcomed Hailie Jade Scott Mathers whom they shared custody of for most of her upbringing, and Eminem also had custody of his younger brother, Nathan. Hailie is now all grown up (plus is an Instagram sensation).

Kim also had a child with someone else; Eminem later adopted that child (Frankie Laine Mathers) as well as Kim's sister's child (Alaina Scott). It seems being Eminem's wife wasn't all bad!

Fortunately for Kim, it seems she has a good relationship with all three of the kids today, though it appears as if Eminem did most of the childrearing while Kim went through personal struggles, including losing her sister.

During an open and honest interview with People Magazine, Kim Mathers revealed that a song Eminem had recorded and released led her down a very dark path, to the point where she attempted self-harm.

The rapper released the song 'Kim' in 2000, which included some very unfortunate lyrics. After Eminem performed the song with a blow-up doll on stage, his wife went home and self-harmed to the point where she required hospitalization.

During her time with Eminem, Kim Mathers found herself in the hot seat quite a bit. She managed to not only get arrested for possession of illegal substances, but she also risked jail time after getting a number of DUIs. She was later put on probation, only to find herself in yet another mess back in 2016 for another DUI.

After taking Marshall Mathers to court a handful of times, it appears as if Kim got her way. Kim allegedly scored a deal where she would receive over $50,000 annually from her ex-husband. Eminem's ex-wife didn't seem to do much good with her windfall, however.

It's said that Kim Mathers has written children's books since her troubles faded, but there doesn't seem to be any evidence to back up that rumor. In fact, there is another Kim Scott who has penned books, but she appears to have advanced degrees, so it's not the same person.

As mentioned, Kim not only got into trouble for drug possession, but she also developed a heavy addiction to drugs and alcohol.

It is said that this was a huge issue between Kim and Eminem and was the deal breaker that led to the couple's second and final divorce back in 2006. This may also be why Eminem was granted custody of their daughter plus the two children who were not biologically his.

1 Kim Was Hospitalized In The Summer Of 2021

Despite seemingly getting back on track prior, Kim Scott Mathers found herself hospitalized in July 2021 after she attempted self-harm. At this point, Eminem's music likely wasn't a trigger, but it's clear that Kim has never had an easy time in life, specifically when it comes to being in the spotlight.

According to TMZ, Kim became irate and combative with law enforcement and was immediately sent to the hospital for medical and psychological evaluation.

The whole family went through a lot in 2021, but Eminem's former wife was getting the help she needed after her last stint in the hospital. She hasn't appeared to have made headlines since, so hopefully, she is healthier today.

It's also said that she does some freelance work, so may finally be getting back on her feet. It's unclear if she's still receiving alimony from Eminem at this point, but it would make sense if she was, given his immense wealth.
