As anyone with even a passing interest in Hollywood will no doubt already know, the movie studios care more about making money than anything else. As a result, the powers that be in the movie business do everything in their power to attract huge movie stars to their projects.

Of course, the main way that the studios ensure that huge stars work with them is by paying them a huge amount of money. However, another thing that the powers that be in Hollywood tend to do a lot is look the other way when stars misbehave. As a result, there is a slew of different actors who’ve done seriously bad things only to find that their careers weren’t affected at all.

Since movie stars can get away with so much, is it any surprise that some of them have distorted views of the world? For example, one of the biggest stars in Hollywood once said that Leonardo DiCaprio needed a “reality check”.

Stars Tell All

These days, it seems like virtually everyone is obsessed with celebrities. After all, the Kardashian/Jenner family has a huge following, and almost everyone who can’t stand that family seems to enjoy following the personal lives of other stars. Unfortunately for everyone who is interested in the world of celebrities, the vast majority of people will never truly know what it is like to be a star.

On the bright side, the world can always depend on celebrities telling stories about one another since a lot of them are pretty close friends. For example, even though Dave Chappelle once walked away from fame, his legendary sketch comedy show provided fans with amazing stories about Rick James and Prince.

Of course, it should go without saying that a lot of stars try their best to be likable and not burn any bridges so their stories about other stars should be taken with a grain of salt. However, there is a huge star who told an amazing story about Leonardo DiCaprio, his entourage, and how they had a skewed view of reality in a pretty hilarious way.

Leo’s Reality Check

In the years since George Clooney rose to fame, it has become very clear that he loves to laugh. For example, based on all of the stories about Clooney pranking his friends and co-stars, he seems like a lot of fun to be around. In addition to pranking the people around him, Clooney is willing to tell stories about his fellow stars that don’t cast them in the best light. For example, he once told a less than flattering story about Leonardo DiCaprio.

In 2013, George Clooney sat down for an interview with an Esquire reporter in his own home. Since the interview took place in Clooney’s Cabo home, the subject of another star who lives in the area came up, Leonardo DiCaprio. Hilariously enough, Clooney then went on to tell a story about DiCaprio’s inflated view of his own athletic abilities.

According to Clooney, he once ran into DiCaprio around Cabo and the two stars began to discuss their mutual love of basketball. From there, Clooney broached the topic of Clooney and pals playing a game against DiCaprio and his entourage. According to Clooney, DiCaprio quickly agreed to the proposed game only to warn George that he and his team are “pretty serious”. In Hollywood, there are a lot of movie stars who have athletic backgrounds so it wouldn’t have been shocking if DiCaprio was as good as he said.

While talking to the aforementioned Esquire interviewer, George Clooney remained somewhat humble while bragging about his basketball skills. "I'm not great, by any means, but I played high school basketball, and I know I can play.” As a result, Clooney must have felt pretty confident when he took his friends to play DiCaprio and his team. However, Clooney might have felt a bit different after one of the players on DiCaprio’s team began bragging about how great they were, just as Leonardo had earlier. Once DiCaprio and his team started warming up, however, Clooney quickly realized that their bravado wasn’t warranted.

“You don't talk s**t unless you can play. And the thing about playing Leo is you have all these guys talking s**t.” “And so then we're watching them warm up, and they're doing this weave around the court, and one of the guys I play with says, 'You know we're going to kill these guys, right?' Because they can't play at all. We're all like fifty years old, and we beat them three straight: 11–0, 11–0, 11–0. And the discrepancy between their game and how they talked about their game made me think of how important it is to have someone in your life to tell you what's what. I'm not sure if Leo has someone like that."
