Mayim Bialik is known around the world mostly for her portrayal of neurobiologist, Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler in the CBS hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

In real life, Bialik actually holds a PhD in neuroscience as well. She has however proven how eclectic she is by revealing that she loves superhero movies and TV shows, so much so that she really wants to star in one.

Taken On Some Significant Roles

Bialik's filmography makes for impressive reading. She started her acting career very early and became a bona fide child star on the big and small screen. Her first acting job saw her play little Christine Wallace in the 1988 horror film Pumpkinhead.

Even before The Big Bang Theory, she had taken on some significant roles, most notably as Blossom Russo in the early-to-mid '90s NBC sitcom, Blossom.

Even after the curtains were finally drawn on The Big Bang Theory's 12-year run, Bialik didn't really slow down. She starred and served as one of the executive producers in yet another sitcom, titled Call Me Kat. Based on a similar British show called Miranda, the show has already completed one season on Fox, although confirmation of a second season is yet to come.

Other notable works by Bialik include TV shows such as The Secret Life of The American Teenager as well as MacGyver and Webster from the 1980s. She has also featured in several films, including The Chicago 8, and Lifetime's The Flight Before Christmas.

Not For The Want Of Trying

Despite all this success, the 45-year old is yet to actualize her dream of featuring in a superhero production. However, this has not been for the want of trying. In a recent interview, she expressed her keen desire to be cast as part of a superhero franchise.

"I've tried very hard and I'd like to believe that one day it might happen," Bialik stated as she spoke about a new partnership between her and the brain health dietary supplement brand Neuriva. "I'm past the young ingénue character, but I still think there might be a place for me."

She went on to reveal that she had actually auditioned for but failed to land a role in a 'Spider-Man' movie. "I did audition to play the teacher in one of the 'Spider-Man' [movies], but I didn't get it," Bialik said.

She never specified which particular 'Spider-Man' film she auditioned for, although the pool of possibilities is not that vast. There have been eight 'Spider-Man' movies since the turn of the century.

In four of them, Spider-Man Peter Parker has been portrayed as a high school student. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both played high school-level Peter Parker in Spider-Man (2002) and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) respectively.

The same is true for English actor Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). Had Bialik been successful in her audition, it stands to reason that she would have likely appeared in one of these four installments.

DC Over Marvel

In the Neuriva interview, the California-born actor also revealed that she is a massive fan of both DC Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, she did intimate that her current contractual obligations automatically mean that she is more inclined towards DC than she is the MCU.

"I'm a huge Marvel and DC person, but obviously DC is my Warner Bros. family. I'm pretty partial to that," she affirmed.

DC Comics is of course owned by the Warner Bros. Entertainment outfit, with whom Bialik's production company, Sad Clown Productions has a multi-year production deal. That particular agreement also includes a talent-holding provision for her services as an actress.

Should this deal eventually edge her closer to living her dream within the DC universe, there are a few projects in the works that might work for her.

It might be too late for Bialik to be cast in productions such as The Batman, Black Adam and Aquaman 2, which are all already on schedule for a 2022 release. Nevertheless, we might yet see or hear her in projects like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is pencilled in for a June 2023 release.

Other opportunities might include the Michael B. Jordan-produced Static Shock or a movie centered around the female magician character 'Zatanna,' that is currently being written by actress, writer and director Emerald Fennell.

The superhero worlds are not entirely foreign to Bialik. In the early 2010s, she was signed up to voice the character Lady Lightning in the animated film and TV series Stan Lee's Mighty 7. One film, Stan Lee's Mighty 7: Beginnings was released in 2014, but subsequent productions stalled after the designated broadcast platform, The Hub Network was replaced by Discovery Family.
