Throughout the history of television, there have been a small group of powerbrokers who’ve pulled all of the strings. Of course, there is no doubt that the folks who’ve served as the head of the various networks throughout history are a part of that group. On top of them, it is pretty obvious that the people who are in charge of services like Netflix hold a lot of sway over the television landscape today.

The thing that a lot of people may not realize is that at any given time, there are a handful of TV producers who’ve shepherded many of the top shows into production. For example, in the past, Aaron Spelling was one of the most powerful people in the entertainment business considering he produced shows like Charlie’s Angels, Melrose Place, and many more. These days, it could be argued that Andy Cohen is the most powerful television producer around.

An extremely busy man, given all of the shows that he executive produces, it may seem like Andy Cohen would struggle to find the time to date. However, in reality, Andy Cohen has managed to have a healthy dating life over the years, even though it can be hard to tell since he is very private about that kind of thing.

Incredible Career

Early on in Andy Cohen’s career, he got a job working as an intern at CBS News. From those relatively inauspicious beginnings, he would go on to work as a senior producer on The Early Show on top of producing 48 Hours. Then, in 2004 Cohen landed the job that has defined his career ever since, vice president of original programming at Bravo.

Even though it may be hard to remember now, in the past Bravo TV was one of the least relevant networks around. Of course, that couldn’t be further from the truth today as Andy Cohen has helped to turn Bravo into a “reality” show heavyweight. It could even be argued that Cohen deserves most of the credit for the network’s success, as he is the man behind most of Bravo’s popular “reality” shows.

Unlike most TV producers, Andy Cohen has become a massive celebrity in his own right, and for good reason. The host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen also has a long history of hosting lots of “reality” show reunion shows, a job that can get pretty strange at times. Still not content with his extensive TV work alone, Cohen has also branched out his career in several different ways. For example, he has penned more than one New York Times Best Selling books and he put on several conversational stage shows when he toured with Anderson Cooper. That sounds like an amazing show since Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper are an enthralling pair.

Rumored Relationship

Given the fact that Andy Cohen is the man behind so many hit “reality” shows, you may expect him to be equally forthright about his love life as the stars of those series are. However, the exact opposite is true as he has managed to keep most details of his personal life to himself, which is an impressive feat with so many paparazzi running around.

Of course, just because Andy Cohen has kept the paparazzi at arm’s length, doesn’t mean that rumors haven’t flown around about his love life. For example, in 2013 there were lots of people who believed that Cohen and famed hockey player Sean Avery were a couple. Clearly annoyed by those rumors, Cohen told TMZ “A gay guy and a straight guy should be able to be friends”.

Relationships That Likely Happened

Even though it is abundantly clear that Andy Cohen and Lance Bass never were an actual couple, this article wouldn’t be complete without bringing them up. After all, during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen surprised many when he said “The most famous person I ever slept with, I guess, is Lance Bass.” Asked later about Cohen’s revelation, the former boy band member Bass quibbled over the definition of sleeping with someone but confirmed they spent a night together.

On the other hand, in 2016 Andy Cohen revealed he was off the market but he refused to reveal who the man in his life was. Not willing to let that slide, in 2016 Radar Online reported that Andy Cohen’s boyfriend was Harvard Ph.D. student Clifton Dassuncao, a man who is 19-years younger than him. Even though it should be noted that Cohen never really talked publicly about his involvement with Dassuncao, it seems very likely they were a couple at one time.

An all-around entertainer, Andy Cohen’s ex-boyfriend John Hill is most famous for appearing in Broadway musicals like Hairspray and The Boy from Oz. However, it should be noted that he landed the lead role in an Off-Broadway production of Bare: A Pop Opera and appeared in several other musicals over the years. On top of Hill’s acting career, he formerly starred in a series of comedic videos called “Johnny and Kooks” and is a TV producer in his own right. Still, on excellent terms with Cohen, Hill hosts a radio show called The Feels on Andy’s Sirius XM Channel and he produces Watch What Happens Live. If that weren’t amazing enough, John Hill talked-about dating Andy Cohen with his ex in the audience during a 2020 cabaret performance.
