Henry Cavill got his major break playing Superman in Man of Steel, DC Comics' first installment in their new DC Extended Universe, and he reprised the role in the follow-up Batman Vs Superman, and Justice League. And while his future in the DCEU is in question, other than his appearance in the upcoming Snyder Cut of Justice League, the rise in star power has definitely seen his dating stock rise, as he has been seen with some big names in film and television, which also included some engagements.

So who has he dated? Actresses obviously, but also some former MMA stars, one of biggest names in television, and a stuntwoman. Let’s dive into the dating history of the Man of Steel himself.

The One Before Superman

Before Cavill became Superman and took the world by storm, he was dating international showjumper Ellen Whitaker for the better part of three years. In fact, according to Daily Mail, the two were engaged back in 2011, and at the time, Ellen couldn’t be happier with her upcoming ‘I dos’, as it was a complete surprise to her that he was going to ask her to marry him.

“I couldn’t believe it when he asked me to marry him,” said Whitaker. “I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy.”

But the relationship didn’t last much longer and right before he started filming the Superman movie, the two broke it off, with Ellen’s friends saying according to the story they just weren’t getting along anymore. The pair were seen less and less together and Ellen was focusing on her horses, as she was part of a horse jumping dynasty.

The Face Of Women’s MMA

After breaking it off with Ellen, next up for the Man of Steel was someone who could probably knock him down if she tossed a punch, former MMA, Strikeforce and EliteXC women’s star Gina Carano, who fans may know from her latest work in the Star Wars television show The Mandalorian.

The two went from sipping wine together in Rome in 2013 to broken up, as they would call it quits multiple times throughout their on-again, off-again relationship. They rekindled their romance briefly, even adopting a puppy together from a breeder in Arkansas. They started dating in 2012 before the first break-up in 2013. The pair preferred to hang out at home, however, and didn’t really enjoy the event life that comes with being a movie star.

“I’m not much of a schmoozer … not much of an event-goer. I’d rather stay close to here. This doesn’t feel like L.A. It doesn’t feel like work,” said Cavill.

The Brief Fling With The Big Bang

Right after ditching Carano, Cavill had a very brief fling with The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco. And we mean brief, as the two were only together for 10 days according to Cuoco. You would think a big power couple like that would do well together, but at the time, The Big Bang Theory wasn’t the massive hit it would go on to become, and Cuoco was just starting to make a big name for herself in the role as Penny on the hit TV series.

After it was over, she opened up in an interview saying until she started dating Cavill, no one really knew who she really was.

"I had no one following me until I met Superman," she said. "I've been in this business for 20 years, and my whole life, I could go anywhere, do anything. There had not been one paparazzi photo of me until like several months ago. The recognition was crazy."

The Stuntwoman

Lately, Henry Cavill has been linked to stuntwoman Lucy Cork, who Henry called the best stunt woman in the world. He seems to be learning over his past failures in his other relationships, as he was quoted as saying,

"I've made mistakes, I've been someone I'm not proud of plenty of times. I've fallen down. I've loved the wrong person. I've failed. I've been hurt. I've hurt. That's life! In life we are going to get it wrong ... a lot,” said Cavill. “What I've tried to do and still try to do each time though is recognize those mistakes and mould them to my advantage. Make them a way to better myself."

He does have a bit of a history of calling her ‘My Lucy’, and no word if she enjoyed the ownership of being called someone’s girl. But it looks as if Cavill is still trying to find love, as the relationship ended in 2018, and since then, the Man of Steel hasn’t been linked to anyone else.

He does have a history of dating woman young than him, including 19-years his junior Tara King. But so far, he is focused on his movie career and possibly getting back into the role of Superman if the right film were to come along with the right script.
