They are legen-wait for it-dary! How I Met Your Father is a spin-off series based on the same concept of the 2005 comedy, How I Met Your Mother. Both shows are based on the main character telling the story to their children about how they met their mother/father.
How I Met Your Father premiered this year on Hulu and stars Hilary Duff, as the main character, Sophie. An older version of her character tells her son the story of how she met his father, while also talking about her life in New York with her friends in the time of dating apps and endless opportunities.

Francia Raisa plays Valentina, Sophie's best friend who is a hot mess and dating a British guy, who left his hometown for her. However, this might not be the first time you have seen her. Raisa is a seasoned actress and have starred in roles such as Bring It On: All or Nothing, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Black-ish and Grown-ish, Life-Size 2 and more.
The 33-year-old has also starred in music videos including Jojo's "The Man" and "So Big" by Iyaz. Raisa is good friends with Selena Gomez, so much so that she is the woman who gave Gomez one of her kidneys in 2017, after Selena's battle with Lupus.

Chris Lowell plays Jesse, a guy in a band who got dumped after proposing publicly to his girlfriend. He may or may nor have a crush on Sophie. Before HIMYF, Lowell starred in many movie and TV roles such as The Help, Veronica Mars, Life As We Know It, Private Practice, GLOW, Graves and more. He has also dabbled in directing, producing and screenwriting.
Besides acting on screen, the 37-year-old has also performed on stage. He is the lead vocalist and harmonicist for the indie band, Two Shots for Poe. And according to his Instagram, he is also a photographer.
7 Tom Ainsley
Tom Ainsley plays Charlie, Valentina's boyfriend, who traveled from the UK to New York City and is trying to find a job he is passionate about. Ainsley has worked in both British and American television including Versailles, The Royals, Serpent, Jarhead 3: The Siege and more. He is originally from Scarbourough, North Yorkshire and spends his time between London and the US.
6 Suraj Sharma
Suraj Sharma plays Sid, the bar owner who is best friends with Jesse and engaged to his long-distance fiancé, Hannah. Sharma was born in New Dehli, India. You might know him best from his role of Pi in Life of Pi. After that role, he returned to college to study philosophy, according to his IMDb page. Sharma also co-starred in the 2019 sequel, Happy Death Day 2U.

Tien Tran plays Ellen, Jesse's adoptive sister, who just moved to New York City and is trying to navigate making new friends and finding a girlfriend. She is a comedian, actress and writer. Her career in show business began in 2017, when she was cast in the improvisational comedy enterprise, The Second City. From there, she has had guest roles in shows such as Space Force, Easy, Hot Date, Sherman's Showcase, among others. Tran is openly lesbian in real life.

Kim Cattrall plays future Sophie, who talks to her child about how she met his father. This role is similar to the late Bob Saget's in the original, where he played future Ted. Cattrall is a seasoned actress and is best known for her roles in Sex and the City, its spinoff and many movies, including Mannequin, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and many more. The 65-year-old has also dabbled in theater work and has won many awards including SAG Awards and a Golden Globe.

As for HIMYF, he plays Drew, the principal at the school Jesse works at and current boyfriend of Sophie. Stony Blyden has a recurring, minor role in the show. He plays Jasper, an NYU student who works for Sid at the bar. Blyden is an Icelandic actor, rapper, singer, drummer and music producer.
