Anderson Cooper is a staple on CNN and has been a respected and beloved journalist for decades. People love watching him on Anderson Cooper 360° and he also hosted a talk show for a few years. He recently became a father and it has been so sweet seeing him with his baby boy Wyatt.

As far as his career goes, Cooper is definitely no stranger to interviews, and he's also no stranger to making comments about celebrities.

When Jennifer Lawrence fell at the Oscars in 2013, Cooper said it wasn't real, and as it turns out, he has said that he never wanted to interview Kim Kardashian or the Kardashian family. Keep reading to find out why.

No Kardashian Interviews

From wondering if Kanye and Kim broke up to seeing the family's latest Instagram posts, it's definitely true that the Kardashian family seems to be everywhere.

Cooper appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in 2012 and he said he would ban the Kardashians from his TV show.

According to Heavy.com, Cooper didn't love hearing that Keeping Up With The Kardashians got a three-season renewal in 2012, and he said it was "depressing." He also said, "What made me really depressed is they’re going to get $40 million for the three years.”

It's interesting to hear Anderson Cooper say this about the famous family. According to The Huffington Post, in January 2012, Khloe Kardashian took to Twitter to say, "I love Anderson Cooper! #SilverFox."

Even though Cooper said he would "ban" the Kardashian family from his show, Andy Cohen has interviewed them a few times and they are very open and honest with him. A CNN story from 2017 says that when Cohen had Kim Kardashian on his show, she admitted that she could tell she wouldn't be married to Kris Humphries very long. She said, "I'm 30 years old. I better get this together. I better get married," she said. "I think like a lot of girls do go through that, where they freak out thinking they're getting old."

In July 2020, Khloe Kardashian went on Cohen's show and said about Tristan Thompson, "You know what, Tristan and I are in a really good space. "It's like, I have to be an adult. Why make it difficult for myself for the rest of my life? I have to deal with him. And he's her dad and he's a great dad to her."

Anderson Cooper isn't the only person who isn't a big fan of the Kardashians. According to She Knows, when Daniel Craig was on the cover of GQ, he talked about them and said, "Look at the Kardashians, they’re worth millions. I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them." He said his problem with them is that people will think they can act like an "idiot on television" and will get millions of dollars in return. He explained, "I’m not judging it — well, I am obviously.”

In an interview with The Huffington Post, Jonah Hill shared that he wasn't a fan, either. He said, “I have friends who work in TV and the Kardashians get higher ratings than their TV shows. Shows that people actually work hard on -- writing and creating and trying to tell stories. The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like Mad Men is disgusting.”

Cooper's Best Interviews

While Anderson Cooper won't interview the Kardashians, he has great talents as an interviewer and has gotten some real gold over the years.

Cooper interviewed Stephen Colbert and they talked about the pain of grieving a loved one who had passed away. Cooper's mom, Gloria Vanderbilt, had died recently, and he and Colbert related to each other as they had both been lost family members. Colbert not only was grieving the death of his father, but at the young age of ten, his two brothers died.

Colbert said "I was very grateful to have that conversation with Anderson, "according to The Hollywood Reporter. He continued, "I think that because the things he was asking me about are common to all of our experiences, but we generally don't want to talk about them because there's something about grief that we feel is contagious."

Anderson Cooper And Kathy Griffin's Feud

While Cooper doesn't want to interview the Kardashians, he has also had some drama with some famous people. He and Kathy Griffin used to be friends and they also hosted CNN's New Year's Eve special.

According to Us Weekly, when Griffin spoofed Donald Trump with a violent and disturbing image, an incident that went viral at the time, Cooper tweeted that he was "appalled." Griffin didn't hear from him and from that moment on, they weren't friends anymore.
