From 2013 until 2018, people fell in love with adorable houses, white shiplap, and the amazing renovation and decor style of Chip and Joanna Gaines. While it's true that some parts of Fixer Upper weren't real, it was still an incredibly enjoyable show to watch.

Fans enjoy following this down-to-earth couple as Chip and Joanna have a wonderful marriage and five children.

People were understandably bummed out with the news that Fixer Upper was going off the air, and some fans started saying that Joanna Gaines left the show before the fifth season to start a skincare line. Let's take a look at what happened.

The Skincare Rumor

HGTV stars like Christina Anstead have become wealthy and fans are eager to know more about their personal lives.

In the case of Joanna Gaines, people have been saying something that isn't even true.

In 2017, Joanna Gaines posted on her Instagram account that she wasn't working on a skincare line. According to Today.com, she wrote, "There have been rumors floating around about me leaving the show to start a skincare/makeup line. I wanted to take a minute to let y'all know that it's simply not true. This is a SCAM! We have nothing to do with it and have been trying to stop it for some time. You can help!"

People story from April 2017 brought up the rumor and said that it began with an article titled "HGTV Nightmare: Joanna Gaines Leaves Show to Start a Cosmetic Line." This started appearing on social media feeds, and that's how the rumor started spreading.

Gaines shared on her website that people were saying many things about her and her family that were fake. She said, “So many things are happening right now and it feels like we are moving at the speed of light. At times, it’s even hard to keep our own parents in the loop. It’s true. At this point in our career, we can honestly say, we’ve heard it all—from reports of us moving our family to Vegas to us having more or less children than we actually have. So remember, you can’t believe everything you read.”

The End Of 'Fixer Upper'

While Joanna and Chip Gaines did return to Fixer Upper for season five, the show didn't last longer than that, and the couple knew that it was time to say goodbye.

In September 2017, the couple said that the show would end with the fifth season. It sounds like the couple knew it was the right time to end it and they wanted to spend more time with their family. According to Entertainment Weekly, Chip and Joanna posted a letter to fans on their website. They said it was "bittersweet" and Joanna explained in a video, "Our beautiful children are growing up so quickly. The idea that we get to step back, get fresh with vision, get some rest, and hunker down with our kiddos is something that we’re excited about.”

Chip and Joanna Gaines explained that their lives became super busy while filming Fixer Upper. According to E! News, Chip said, "I think for Jo and I, as we look back on the whole Fixer Upper thing, the reason we were so excited and almost desperate to step out of it was just because we felt that whirlwind had gotten so complicated to that it was hard for us to coexist in it."

Joanna explained that the years filming the show were "just such a blur…trying to juggle the business, the family and this whole production thing with Fixer Upper.

The couple has done so much in the past few years. They have created a whole empire under their "Magnolia" brand. They not only have Magnolia Market at the Silos, a beautiful shopping experience that includes food trucks (offering popcorn, barbecue, pizza, and more), a garden, and of course, a chance to buy the incredible decor objects that Joanna is known for.

There is also a bakery called Silos Baking Co. that includes coffee and treats, plus three gorgeous places where guests can stay called Magnolia House, Carriage House, and Hillcrest Estate.

The couple also has their new Magnolia Network, and according to House Beautiful, they have a digital series called Road to Launch.

While it was sad to see Fixer Upper come to an end (and it wasn't because of a skincare line), there is some exciting news: Chip and Joanna Gaines are coming back.

According to Good Housekeeping, there is a new series coming called Fixer Upper: Welcome Home. There will be four episodes that will air in February 2021 on discovery+.
