She is undoubtedly one of the biggest artists in the world, having topped Spotify’s list for most-streamed female artist of 2020 — an accolade she first achieved the year prior with hits including “Bad Guy,” “When The Party’s Over” and “Everything I Wanted.”

So it’s quite a surprise to hear that Billie Eilish, with all the fame and money she’s acquired, not only still lives with her parents but also sleeps in their bedroom to avoid the “monsters” in her own room. Billie made the revelation in a teaser clip for her upcoming documentary, Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, which hits Apple TV+ in February 2021.

But what else is there to know about her decision to still share her parents’ bedroom?

Billie Eilish Fears The ‘Monsters’ In Her Bedroom

In the video clip from the forthcoming documentary, Billie talks directly to the camera as she shows fans around her home in Los Angeles.

"This is my parents' bed. I sleep in here because I'm scared of monsters in my room,” she gushed.

While some may think that Billie is joking about sleeping in her parents’ bed, she’s made it no secret over the years that she suffers from insomnia and when she does fall asleep, she tends to be plagued with severe nightmares.

And the last thing she wants to do is struggle to sleep when she’s gearing up for a tour or planning on hitting the road — so the trick that seems to have worked for her is to simply get in her parents’ bed, where she tends to sleep without any problems.

In a previous interview, she explained just how bad her sleeping patterns had gotten, which she's endured on one too many occasions.

"I went to sleep on a plane sitting up the other day for, like, the first time ever,” she said. “I’ve had sleep paralysis three times. I have a lot of weird sleep issues. I have these terrifying dreams and stuff. Sleep paralysis, night terrors.

"It takes me forever to fall asleep. I don't understand how people can fall asleep [straight away] - that's so weird to me.”

Living with her family has made Billie realize just how much she wants to continue staying with them until she feels ready to take the leap and find a property of her own to call her home, but considering how she still struggles to sleep without being in her parents’ bed, it would seem she’s nowhere near ready to move out anytime soon.

Previously, Billie has also admitted that when she has a nightmare, she doesn’t immediately wake up from it; in fact, she actually does the opposite. The nightmare continues for the entire night.

So when she does finally wake up (and realizes she was just dreaming), it tends to affect her mood on any given day, which has definitely been a problem for her in the past.

"It's weird because normally the nightmares I have don't make me wake up,” she said. “Lately, I've had a couple that do, but normally the dream is the whole night - so the whole night is terrifying. They can really mess me up, so the whole day is off sometimes.

"I'll have a dream that really screws with my head and makes me kind of just feel... I don't know what it is but it makes me feel uncomfortable all day. I've had the same nightmare for like two months in a row. Horrible.

"And it affects me day-to-day. It affects how I act and all that.”

In December 2020, the “No Time Do Tie” chart-topper officially canceled her Where Do We Go? Tour amid growing concerns that the coronavirus pandemic will continue throughout 2021, meaning there’s no chance Billie can hit the road to see her fans in the foreseeable future.

In an official post on Twitter, the Grammy award-winning superstar shared:  “We’ve tried as many scenarios as possible for the tour but none are possible and, although I know so many of you want to hold onto your tickets and VIP passes, the best thing we can do for everyone is to get the money back into your hands as soon as we can.

“Keep an eye on your email for more info from your point of purchase and when we’re ready and it’s safe we’ll let you know when everyone will be able to purchase tickets again for the next tour."

“I love you so much. Stay safe, drink lots of water, wear a mask."
