Unlike her sister, Paris Hilton, who is constantly in the limelight, Nicky Hilton has kept a pretty low profile over the years — especially after settling down with her husband, James Rothschild, with whom she shares two children, Lily-Grace and Teddy.

While her sibling has always been the one who enjoyed the fame more than she did, Nicky may not have the same billion-dollar empire that Paris has, but with a $50 million net worth, it’s fair to say she’s done pretty well considering that we don’t hear half as much as we do from the “Stars Are Blind” singer.

Why Does Nicky Hilton Hate Being In The Limelight?

Nicky has made it no secret that she’s not keen on having her personal life discussed for entertainment purposes in the media — while she’s open to doing interviews every now and then, along with the occasional red carpet event, she refrains from sharing too much because she prefers her privacy.

Even before she settled down with her husband in 2015, when looking at her earlier years in the limelight, Nicky has always taken a step back while Paris was enjoying all kinds of success, thanks to a successful reality show, movie appearances, a music career, and an infamous adult tape.

In a previous interview, she admitted to never wanting fame and attention, adding that one of the worst things that she has endured after finding herself in the spotlight was the number of fabricated lies she’s read about herself in the press.

While she was portrayed to be a “party girl,” Nicky says that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

"Half of what you read about us wasn't true,” she told Avenue magazine.

"The things I would read about myself in these gossip columns growing up... I once read I jumped onstage at some concert and was singing with the band. I mean, can you imagine me doing that? Anyone who knows me would know that wouldn't happen in a million years."

The 37-year-old says that everything changed when the family relocated from Los Angeles to New York, shortly after their father had opened a branch of Hilton & Hyland, where Nicky notes everything started to change about her lifestyle.

"I cried. Everything was, like, different. Like when I was in LA in seventh grade we would just all sit home on a Friday night and watch movies, and like, make up dances, and in New York there's, like, house parties and boys…"

And while the media made her seem like a wild child, Nicky was actually working hard behind the scenes to be just as successful as her parents by working on her entrepreneurial skills — not chasing after boys.

The mother of two previously took her time to write her insider-wardrobe guide, titled 365 Style, which hit shelves back in the fall of 2014. The book was all about helping people figure out what looked good on them, with a lengthy rundown of the current fashion trends and more.

At the time, she took part in an interview with WhoWhatWear, where she gushed: "It all started because I, like many girls, wake up in the morning, look at a closet full of stuff, and feel like I have nothing to wear.

“I am numbers person, and found that there are pretty much six main silhouettes I wear each season and five main accessories. The 365 method has really helped me to have a more orderly closet filled with things I am actually going to wear.”

In her spare time, Nicky has dedicated plenty of her time to become an even greater philanthropist to the one she’s already become, having spent years working with her great-grandfather Conrad N Hilton’s Foundation.

In 2016, for example, she helped provide resources for families who were living in poverty, along with her charitable work for Reach Act, whose aim is to eliminate preventable deaths of children and mothers around the world.

Animal Haven has been another organization in New York she’s worked with for a while, helping to rescue animals that have been neglected by their owners.

In 2007, Nicky made the attempt of opening her own chain of hotels, but the construction was halted midway through several disagreements with her business partners, which consequently led both parties to go their separate ways.

And while we don’t see her much on TV, fans did spot Nicky in the recent release of her sister’s YouTube documentary, This Is Paris, where she candidly spoke out about growing up with her sibling in Hollywood.
