Murphy married his girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds in the French Polynesian region of Bora Bora during a 2008 ceremony. While their marriage was not technically legal in the United States, the duo did, in fact, exchange vows and rings, making it quite an official move.

Despite the couple being regarded as head over heels in love, things went awry rather quickly in the relationship, so much that Tracey filed for divorce 14 days later! According to the Huff Post, Edmonds decided to cut their marriage short due to Murphy's change in behavior.

The film producer was "happy to sign a prenup. She had her own money. She was very accommodating. She was even willing to change her name to Tracey Murphy, and all the wedding invites and place cards had her labeled as such," making it clear she was in it for the long run.
