Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are broadly seen as two of the most physically desirable people in Hollywood... In other words... they're freaking hot! This can't exactly be a reality that's lost on either of them. Not just in terms of how each of them relates to the world around them but also in terms of how they relate to each other.
This is something people picked up when the two were doing press for their 2016 movie, Passengers... It appeared as though the two had eyes for each other... And yet, Jennifer actually had to get drunk in order to get through a love scene with the Guardians of the Galaxy hunk... How is this possible?
Jennifer And Chris's Chemistry Was So Fire That Everyone Thought They Were Having An Affair
There was no shortage of people asking what was up with the chemistry between Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. When the two did press for their sci-fi epic Passengers, fans couldn't stop noticing the flirtatious energy shooting back and forth between. In fact, numerous compilation videos of their flirting have been made. Seriously, there doesn't seem to be an end to them. Not just because many fans truly wanted the two to get together but also because the pair gave them tons of content to work with.
While Jennifer Lawrence clearly loves good banter with her co-stars the banter she shared with Chris was above the rest. Chris even stated in one interview that Jennifer is just the type of person that everyone wants to be around. Of course, the compliments tended to fly back and forth in almost every single one of their interviews. This is why so many people began to think that the two were actually having an affair. At the time, Chris was still married to his first wife/baby mama, Anna Faris.
While some blame Guardians of the Galaxy for the collapse of their marriage, others were lasering in on J-Law. The rumors weren't exactly cooled when Jennifer went on The Graham Norton Show and admitted to taking extra steps to ensure that her kissing scenes with Chris went well. "Whenever I had to kiss Josh [Hutcherson] and Liam [Hemsworth] for The Hunger Games, who cares. But with [Chris] Pratt... I ate mints."
Still, the two made it clear that they were just very good friends and that there was no legitimacy to the rumors.
Even though both Chris Pratt and Anna Faris have moved on after their 2018 divorce, much of their fanbase still mourns for their relationship. Sure, Chris is now happily married to the daughter of The Terminator, but fans don't seem to be as invested as they were before. But perhaps they were too invested as they tried to publically blame Jennifer Lawrence for their breakup.
"I never had an affair with Chris Pratt on Passengers," Jennifer Lawrence felt compelled to say while speaking to KISS FM in 2018 after Chris and Anna's divorce. "That’s a good one… I mean they got a divorce like two years later and everybody was like [shouting] Jennifer Lawrence! And I was like what the … what I’m in Montreal two years later."
The Real Reason Jennifer Got Drunk Before Her Intimate Scene With Chris
While Jennifer claimed that she popped breathe mints before kissing Chris while making Passengers, she also said that she had to get drunk in order to do much with him. The topic came up during a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter who's interviewers were asking Jennifer about sex scenes.
According to Jennifer, her sex scene with Chris was the very first 'real' one she had. Meaning that it was the most full-on and the most exposed she'd ever been up to that point. Jennifer admitted that the whole situation was bizarre. After all, there were hundreds of people around shining lights and cameras at her and Chris while they got intimate for the sake of the story.
"It was weird. And everything was done right; nobody did anything wrong. It's just a bizarre experience." When asked how she prepared for such a scene, Jennifer gave what was perhaps her best insight into the true nature of her relationship with Chris Pratt... "I got really, really drunk," Jennifer said about her prep for the salacious scene. "But then that led to more anxiety when I got home because I was like 'What have I done?' I don't know. And he was married and it was going to be my first time. Even kissing a married man... guilt is like the worst feeling in your stomach. And I knew it was my job, but I couldn't tell my stomach that... You want to do it real, you want everything to be real, but then... That was the most vulnerable I've ever been."
Between shooting a sex scene for the first time and being intimate with a married man, it seems that Jen really needed a few shots to get through it. Fortunately, that also seems to mean that there was truly nothing going on between her and Chris while he was with Anna.
