Plenty of fan accounts for Kristen Stewart populate Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and every other social media platform imaginable. None of them are legit, however, and Kristen is very clear about the fact that she has made a conscious decision to avoid social media, as well as her reasons for it.

After Kristen answered reporters' questions at 2019's Venice Film Festival, Grazia Magazine explained, it made more sense why she's social media silent.

On the subject, Stewart said, "I’m not totally engaged socially... but I feel like I’m not hiding." Fair point; she isn't tucked away somewhere, and there are plenty of recent photos of her out and about (masked up) with GF Dylan Meyer.

Still, Kristen explained that after the mega-fame 'Twilight' brought her, she had to "protect" herself a lot more, and that included steering clear of social media, fans and all. She elaborated, "It kind of toyed with me when I was younger and a little more insecure."

These days, however, Kristen claims she is "totally unguarded" in real life and that it feels great. There really isn't a reason to dive into social media, she seemed to suggest.

The star has been more open with fans. And yet Kristen admitted that she sometimes covets the "interaction" of Instagram, Twitter, and the like. Still, she maintained, "It doesn’t mean I’m going to start a public Instagram and start yelling at people."

That's not to say Kristen isn't on social media though. Her girlfriend occasionally shares a snap of the two together, so there's proof Kristen's out there living life. She's also had cameos on IG with friend Taylor Lautner (yes, they do still talk these days), among other celebs.

Because after all, if it's not on social media, did it really happen? Kristen argues that she's perfectly active in life, thank you very much, including in politics. Things come up organically for her, she answered in response to the question of whether she had a "desire to be more political in public."

Kristen Stewart isn't posting masked-up selfies on Instagram or sharing political commentary on Twitter. But that doesn't mean she's not still loud and proud about the things that matter to her. Plus, her stylist posts pix of her regularly, and Kristen's style game (or her stylist's game?) is on point.

Being in the public eye in any fashion means plenty of folks interact with and keep up with the actress, so she seems confident that social media isn't even necessary to make the world a better place.

For now, she's too busy working and enjoying life to worry about logging in to Instagram, anyway. And it might be best that she's not online a ton; critics are already reacting to her newest film, and Buzzfeed says it's a bit of a bummer.
