Twentysomethings: Austin takes eight lost, young, and hungry adults from across the states and sets them up in two houses next door to each other in Austin, Texas. The whole group comes together bonding as friends and couples throughout the season as they try to figure themselves out. Many of the cast members have goals and plans to pursue in the new city, going on job interviews, making connections, and searching for a path away from their parents.

An important part of the show is the relationships between the cast, specifically Isha and Michael. They bonded quickly in the first few episodes after it didn't work out with their other love interests. They were a bit of an odd couple, coming off incompatible in a variety of ways. The most controversial aspect of their relationship was that their differences seemed to outweigh their similarities. Opposites don’t always attract, and when they do, they don’t always create an equal and harmonious relationship.

8 Different Experiences

During the show, Michael and Isha had very different experiences in Austin. He bombed on stage multiple times during his comedic act, while she got offered a consignment contract at the second boutique she pitched to for collaboration. These two have different goals and had different experiences, but together, they may learn they fit in different worlds.

7 Is Isha Out Of Michael's League?

Michael admitted to having little to no experience with girls, as he's socially awkward. As Isha says, “he’s just his own genre. I don’t think I’ve ever met a specimen like him before. He’s so interesting to watch existing, and I’m attracted to that.” Michael believes she’s out of his league, and many would agree his nerdy, humorous, and almost flamboyant demeanor is unmatched to Isha’s “hot girl” Berkeley vibes.

On their first date, her goal is to test him to see if he lives up to her and her family's standards. She says, “Is he respectful? Is he chivalrous? Is he attentive?" As these are important qualities for a man and a woman to have when entering the dating field, it may signify another way she could be "out of his league."

6 Isha And Michael Had Different Goals

They both came to Austin with different goals in mind. Isha is a talented aspiring fashion designer with an economics degree, and Michael is a novice but a dedicated comedian. They’re both starting their career journeys together, but with different outlooks and possibly locations in mind. Isha quickly got her foot in the door in Austin and may have opportunities around the world due to her niche in Indian styles and fabrics. Michael is also pursuing a career that could require traveling to venues across the states. They both have the passion for their respected professions, but it could send them in opposite directions.

5 Isha Is Too Expensive For Michael

Isha is a privileged girl from Orange County and has already admitted to having high expectations. During the show, she did expect Michael to take her out and pay for everything. She didn’t know, but he spent almost $500 on her design at the boutique to help her career, and she expected him to take her out to celebrate. He asked, “do I have to pay?” She responded, “Obviously.” Isha doesn’t consider his struggling artistic salary. He says, “Dating Isha is really dope, it’s also super expensive.” A controversy between them may be her expensive taste. Money may create friction once they get serious, and Michael admits he can’t afford to spoil her every whim.

4 Isha And Michael Have Very Different Styles

Together, they have a flirty and sweet relationship but different styles. Isha is a charismatic fashionista, and Michael is more reserved and mysterious, a little awkward. On the show, Isha wears very fashionable clothing and puts a lot of importance on appearance. When she and Bruce flirted a bit, she judged his style and said, “he wears cowboy boots, and not ironically." She has a different take on clothing styles and makes her opinion known. Their difference in interests may lead to questions about their compatibility and relationship.

3 Selfish Vs. Selfless

They have many similarities and differences when it comes to dating. Michael is very romantic and did many sweet things for Isha during the show. He took her out, supported her career, bought her flowers, and chose to stay with her in Austin. Isha appreciated his gestures but didn’t reciprocate much during the season. She attended Michael’s stand-up act to support him, but she didn't encourage him after he didn’t do well on stage.

2 Isha And Michael Have Very Different Personalities

They’re both friendly people, and they have great chemistry on the show. However, they have different personalities, Isha is optimistic about her clothing brand, Mentality, while Michael is self-deprecating. She says she’s not consistent with her work and takes “failing very hard.” Michael similarly doesn’t take failure very well, as he had a meltdown after he performed badly. He throws items around his room and cries. Isha and Michael may have different approaches to failure but still, support each other. She does help clean up his room, and he appreciates her caring side. Down the line, their relationship may differ depending on how they each accept their successes and failures.

A big question about reality shows is, how much of an influence did the producers have on the show? Was Isha and Michael’s relationship all for the cameras? Interestingly, they were the only couple out of the other six cast members. Isha and Michael were the only two to label each other as boyfriend and girlfriend. In the beginning, Raquel had feelings for Michael before Isha, and it’s odd there was little tension between the girls, and everyone seemed to get along when swapping love interests.
