When it comes to television game shows, there is only a handful that have stood the test of time, and 'Wheel of Fortune' just so happens to be one of those shows. The show, which is hosted by none other than Pat Sajak and Vanna White, first began in 1975. This makes the game show one of the longest-running television programs in history. While Pat and Vanna have been the faces of the show for decades, it was Chuck Woolery who originally hosted the game show from its start-up until 1981.

In 1982, viewers were then introduced to the iconic Vanna White, who had worked as a professional model prior to her joining the show. Despite becoming a fan favorite practically overnight, Vanna has revealed that she didn't expect to get the gig on 'Wheel of Fortune', and was convinced they would go with someone else. Although things worked out in her favor, here's why Vanna White was so skeptical, to begin with.

Vanna White has been revealing the letters on the 'Wheel of Fortune' for a whopping 38 years! She first began back in 1982, 7 years after the show's debut. While Chuck Woolery was the original host, the spot was later given to Pat Sajak and Vanna White, a duo that would remain on our screens for nearly 4 decades. Although we can't imagine the show without her, it appears as if her not landing the gig was nearly a possibility, and even Vanna White thinks so too!

Vanna spoke with E! News during their 'Game Show Week' segment, where she revealed during her interview that she was certain she was not going to get the part. The star was "so nervous" that she nearly ruined her chances! "Because I wanted the job so badly and I didn't think I had any chance of getting it", White explained. Although her nerves may have gotten the best of her during her audition, producers clearly saw something in Vanna, and now, the rest is history!

"I think we just have the same personality. We're easy-going, we're laid back. So, it's just worked all these years", Vanna finished saying.

After 38 years of co-hosting 'Wheel Of Fortune', Vanna White has since amassed a net worth of $70 million! The star makes a whopping $10 million per season, making it one of the best-paid gigs of all time in game show history. While she doubted her efforts at getting the job, it's become clear that she, and Pat Sajak, were undoubtedly made to be the faces of the successful game show.
