Whitney Houston’s death on February 11, 2012, shocked fans around the world, after the “I Learned From The Best” singer was found submerged in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

On the same day, Clive Davis, the man who was responsible for discovering Houston, decided it was appropriate to move ahead with his pre-Grammy party at the same hotel while the awards ceremony aired the following day.

Celebrities all over Hollywood partied the night away at the annual occurrence, with many saying the event was appropriate considering they were celebrating the life of Houston. But others begged to differ, stressing that the idea of partying just seemed quite inconsiderate.

The Grammys Continue After Whitney Houston’s Death

Just hours after Houston’s body was removed from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Davis went ahead with his pre-Grammys party, which included dozens of celebrities in attendance including Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Brandy, Diddy, Kim Kardashian, Toni Braxton, and many more.

And while the celebs were quick to gush in interviews, saying that they were all celebrating the life of Houston, fans were somewhat disturbed that on the same day that the legendary singer died (at the same hotel), Davis decides to move ahead with his party to “honor” her legacy.

One fan had taken to Twitter, writing: “I don’t understand how these people are partying at the Beverly Hilton Hotel when Whitney Houston literally just died in one of the rooms a few hours ago. If that’s not weird then I don’t know what is.”

Another chimed in, venting: “How rude of Kim K, Diddy and the rest of them to show up to a party that’s supposed to honor Whitney Houston, but she literally just died this afternoon and they think it’s not too soon to be doing this? I understand the idea behind it but this doesn’t sit well with me at all.”

According to Washington Post, a moment of silence was given to the “I Will Always Love You” singer, before Davis was said to have given a partial tribute to the woman he would go on to and turn into a global superstar.

“Whitney was a beautiful person and a talent beyond compare,” he said.

“She graced this stage with her regal presence and gave so many memorable performances here over the years. Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on, and her family asked that we carry on.”

It was further claimed that while Brandy and Monica were initially expected to sing a song as a tribute for Houston, the women were too “distraught” to grace the stage and perform.

Meanwhile, socialite Kelly Osbourne seemed to agree with fans who were opposed to Davis holding his annual pre-Grammys party just hours after Houston passed away, as she took to her Twitter account to slam those responsible for setting up the event.

“Not going to any pre grammy parties as i dont feel it is appropriate!” She tweeted, followed with the hashtags “#clivedavis #respect.”

The following day, on February 12, 2012, the Grammys went ahead with their awards ceremony, with Jennifer Hudson leading the tribute as she graced the stage and performed her rendition of “I Will Always Love You.”

While a coroner later confirmed that Houston had died by accidental drowning, it was added that the songstress had also been dealing with heart disease and heavy cocaine use, which were contributing factors to her passing.

Just three years after the latter’s death, it was Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, whose life was cut short after a friend had found her face down in a bathtub at her home in Georgia.

While medics were able to resuscitate Bobbi, once she was transported to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia, they learned that she had suffered from significant brain damage. Her family was involved that if she was to make a recovery, it was bound to be a “miracle.”

Houston’s only daughter had suffered “global and irreversible brain damage,” doctors later told her father, Bobby Brown, who had flown in several of the best doctors to try and treat Bobbi before making the heartbreaking decision to have her life-support machine cut off.

Bobbi died on July 26, 2015, at the age of 22, leaving Hollywood stunned once again. The likes of Chris Brown, Oprah Winfrey, Brandy, and Monica were just some of the many celebs to offer their condolences following the tragic death of Houston’s child.

Fans can’t make out what’s been more shocking; the Grammys moving ahead with a party on the day of Houston’s death or the fact that Bobbi died the same way as her mother just three years later.
