Who Is Winona Ryder's Long-Term Boyfriend Scott Mackinlay Hahn?

Hahn is a New York-based fashion designer and co-founder of "the green and socially-conscious" line Loomstate, per People. In 2012, he told Time that the brand aims to lessen environmental damage caused by traditional cotton farming.

That year, the company designed Chipotle's uniforms. "Even though it's this idea of being environmentally conscious, inspired by nature, and socially responsible, it was really born out of wanting to make our factory profitable," Hahn told Racked in 2010. "It has to go hand-in-hand. And we wanted to create criteria that raised the bar in supply chain operations. So, using certified organic cotton was the only way we were going to make jeans."

Though he's usually seen with Ryder at Los Angeles events, Hahn still spends most of his time in Brooklyn. "The reality of moving to Bushwick gave me light and space I didn't have in New York City — in a community that's kind of an industrial utopia. It was definitely more inspiring artistically in a way," he told Racked. "Even the street vibration out there, it's a little bit harsh. It's the sort of place you would never decide or aspire to live. It's changing, but the way I grew up — it's literally the farthest place from where I'd say, 'I'm going to live there one day.'"

Hahn also practices sustainability in his day-to-day life. His Williamsburg home was made using "reclaimed materials" like salvaged bricks. "The building I live in is very efficient. It's a six-story building," he shared. "The building was built recently, it was finished about a year ago, a year and a half ago, it's a new construction, it was done by a guy named Rob Herschenfeld, who developed a lot of the lofts out in Bushwick." What a guy, right?

The Real Reason Winona Ryder Hasn't Married Scott Hahn Yet

Recently, a source told Us Weekly that marriage has "never been a priority" for Ryder and Hahn. "They may eventually marry but it's never been a priority, nor has starting a family," said the insider. "[Winona] loves what they have and [they] are perfectly content."

They added that in the 11 years they've been together, "Winona has found her soulmate in Scott, who's a real gentleman and super successful but loves flying under the radar and enjoying his success in a low-key way just like her."

These days, "They spend their time up north near San Francisco, though she does commute back and forth to L.A. for work and to see friends and often brings him with her," revealed the source. In 2016, Ryder shared her thoughts on marriage and said that she wasn't sure about it. "I'm a serial monogamist," she told Net-a-Porter's The Edit. "I was single for a while and dating and I just didn’t know how to do it! I’ve always been like that. But marriage? I don’t know."

But at the time, she did gush about being "happily with someone for quite a while" now. "I'd rather never have been married than been divorced a few times. Not that there's anything wrong with divorce, but I don’t think I could do it if that was a possibility," she said of her relationship philosophy. "When your parents are madly in love for 45 years, your standards are really high." Fair enough.

What Winona Ryder Feels About Johnny Depp's Defamation Trial Victory

In a recent interview with Harper's Bazaar, Ryder described her 1993 split from Depp as "my Girl, Interrupted real life," in reference to her 1999 film in which she played a patient in a mental institution. "I would look at these fake bruises and cuts on my face [while filming the 1994 drama The House of the Spirits], and I would struggle to see myself as this little girl," she recalled. "I just wasn't taking care of myself."

Following Amber Heard's allegations that Depp was a "wife-beater," Ryder quickly came to the actor's defense. "I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him," she said in a statement at the time. "The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations." We're sure she's happy about the divisive verdict.
