Will Arnett is a talented comedic actor who has become known for his leading role on Arrested Development, voicing the title character in Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman, and for being the voice of Lego Batman. Hailing from Canada, the 50-year-old has enjoyed a pretty successful career in Hollywood over the last few decades. And while there are a lot of things everyone knows about Arnett, including his Canadian roots, love of hockey, and former marriage to Amy Poehler, there are things even die-hard fans might not know.

10 He Hosts A Lego-themed Reality Show

It's only fitting that the voice of Lego Batman would continue his work with the popular toy and movie franchise and become host of a Lego-themed TV series. Lego Masters, which premiered in February 2020, welcomes Lego enthusiasts from across the U.S. to compete in complex Lego building challenges.

Each week, one pair of contestants is sent home from the reality show based on a decision made by expert judges. Arnett, meanwhile, provides comic relief and ties everything together on the show, a great family-friendly series. The show hasn't yet been officially renewed but it is expected to return in 2021.

9 His Father Was A Beer Executive

As if his roots couldn't be any more Canadian, Arnett's father was the president and CEO of Molson Breweries from 1997 to 2000, which makes popular beer brands like Coors and Molson, and has the Canadian marketing rights to brands like Heineken.

His father Emerson James Arnett, who graduated from Harvard University, was also a corporate lawyer.

8 He Swore Off Pilots

Imagine if Arnett didn't decide to audition for Arrested Development? After a very frustrating few years auditioning for and acting in pilot episodes of shows that never came to fruition, Arnett says he entered a pretty dark place in his life.

He made a pilot in 1996 that was never picked up and was in The Mike O'Malley Show, which was canceled after two episodes. Then he was in a pilot called Loomis that wasn’t picked up. When he finally got cast in a successful show that aired for several seasons, Still Standing, his character was cut after the pilot! He understandably decided to swear off pilots until luckily, his agent convinced him to try out for Arrested Development.

7 He Has A Production Company With Jason Bateman

Arnett and actor Jason Bateman, who starred as his brother on Arrested Development, have become friends and created their own production company in 2010. Called DumbDumb Productions, it focuses on digital content.

The first video the company produced was a "dirty short" called "Prom Date" for Orbit gum. The company is also behind the 2012 comedic documentary film Mansome by Morgan Spurlock about male identity and grooming.

6 He Was Supposed To Star In We're The Millers

We're the Millers is a hilarious 2013 comedy flick starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston about a drug dealer who asks his neighbors to pretend to be his family and help him smuggle drugs from Mexico into the U.S.

But Sudeikis wasn't actually the first choice to play the lead role of David Miller. Arnett was supposed to play that role but passed due to scheduling reasons.

5 He Created His Own Netflix Show

Arnett had such a bad track record with appearing in TV series pilots that never went anywhere that in 2016, he decided to create his own. Thanks to the new streaming world of television, he co-created, co-wrote, and starred in a Netflix original series called Flaked.

The series actually lasted two seasons but disappeared after that, seemingly having been canceled. While fans seemed to enjoy the show, critics universally panned it, brutally calling it "dull and pointless."

4 He Was Supposed To Be The Voice Of K.I.T.T.

When Universal announced it was going to reboot the popular '80s series Knight Rider, Arnett was going to be the voice of K.I.T.T. in a Ford Mustang. However, because Arnett had a longstanding relationship with General Motors, the automotive company asked him to pull out.

Arnett is the long-time voice for GMC Trucks in GM commercials that says "It's not more than you need, just more than you're used to."

3 Conan O'Brien Calls Him A Favorite Guest

Talk show host Conan O'Brien, along with his writing staff, has named Arnett as one of his three all-time favorite guests, the other two being Norm Macdonald and Harland Williams.

Interesting, all three are comedic actors. Macdonald is known for Saturday Night Live, The Drew Carey Show, and NewsRadio, and Williams, who performed stand-up on many talk shows, including O'Brien's, has been in movies like Dumb and Dumber, Freddy Got Fingered, and There's Something About Mary. All three are also Canadian.

2 He Was Inducted Into The Canada Walk Of Fame

It took quite some time, but finally, in the summer of 2019, Arnett was inducted into the Canada Walk of Fame. The honor acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of Canadians who have excelled in their particular fields.

Other Canadian actors who have been named to the Walk of Fame include Dan Aykroyd, Raymond Burr, John Candy, Jim Carrey, and Kim Cattrall.

1 He Was In Sex And The City

A lot of actors had guest or recurring roles on HBO series Sex and the City, and Arnett was one of them. He only appeared in one episode in 1999, entitled "La Douleur Exquise!" as Jack.

The episode, which references the concept of wanting someone you can't have, was from season two. Arnett had a very small role as a love interest of Miranda's who got a kick out of making love in public places.
