Will Smith Went On A Date With A Robot

Will Smith has been one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood since the 80s, thanks to the success of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. While the actor has been married to fellow A-lister Jada Pinkett-Smith since 1997, if things go awry he's never going to be short of a date - especially now that he's been caught on camera trying to woo none other than Sophia the robot.

Smith has the distinction of being one of the most charismatic stars out there, having gained a reputation for being notoriously easy to get along with and friendly. With that being said, it looks like he wasn't able to charm Sophia, the robot from Hanson Robotics. In a video uploaded to YouTube earlier this week, the 49-year-old star can be seen on one of the most awkward dates of all time. Smith tried to flirt with the state of the art artificial intelligence invention, but it goes down like water on a circuit board.

After telling her he's so pleased to meet her and busting out a few jokes that are sub-par, the Hitch star leans in for a kiss to seal the deal. "Sophia, can I be honest with you?" asked Smith. "I don't know if it's the island air or the humidity, but you're just so easy to talk to you. You got a clear head... literally." Despite the advances of one of the richest men in the world, Sophia was quick to make it known that she was not that kind of robot. "I think we can be friends," she said, rebuffing Smith's advances. "Let's hang out and get to know each other for a while."

The pair have the romantic scenery all to themselves in the gorgeous Cayman Islands. Will makes a series of gaffs during the clip, firstly offering his expensive date a glass of white wine which she just stares at. "What's a robot's favorite type of music?" he asks at another point. "Heavy metal." Sophia simply frowns and says she prefers, "electronic music or 80's hip-hop." While the actor tries to impress her with his musical repertoire, the robot shuts him down. "I've heard your songs. Not for me."
