On the surface, Will Smith looks like one of the happiest and most positive guys in Hollywood. He grew to fame on 'Fresh Prince’, and during the show, we envied the relationship he had with his family.
However, in his personal life, things were slightly more twisted, something this is still ongoing to this day, especially alongside his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith also has some trauma from the past, given his relationship with his father. He used comedy as a way to get out of trouble, as he revealed with Today, “My father was violent in my house. So a part of the whole creation of Will Smith — the joking, fun, silly — was to make sure that my father was entertained enough not to hurt my mother or anybody in the house.”
Smith would basically use that approach as a defense mechanism throughout his life, “So when someone comes at me like that, the little boy is fully in that space and I would perform and dance and tell jokes, right? People laughing and people having fun was my defense mechanism," he explained.
At the very least, he was able to keep a close relationship with his siblings throughout his life, despite their hardships from the past. He recently shared a funny photo of his brother and sister, proving that they couldn’t take a picture properly back then and they still can’t to this very day.
40-Year Throwback
A rare throwback alongside his sister Ellen and brother Harry. Smith shows that things haven’t changed, the family has a knack to be clumsy when it comes to photos, “40 years later, STILL can’t take a decent photo with these jokas!! #tbt ❤️❤️”
Fans had a blast with the rare photo in the comment section, some would even compare Will’s brother to Tyler Perry!
