The Flight Attendant has been one of HBO Max’s most successful original series so far. Starring Kaley Cuoco (who also serves as the show’s executive producer), the show follows the (mis)adventures of alcoholic flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Cuoco) as she finds herself in dangerous situations that often involve a murder case and someone trying to frame her for it.

Since its release, critics have been raving about the show. More importantly, The Flight Attendant has also gone to score a Golden Globe nomination and an Emmy win. So far, the show has run for two seasons with its second season finale featuring so many surprising twists and shocking moments. And while there is no word on a third season yet, it almost seems that the finale itself hinted that this isn’t the last that anyone has seen of Cassie yet.

What Happened In The Flight Attendant Season 2?

At the end of the second season, Cassie was determined to put her life back together. She has come to terms with the fact that she failed to maintain her sobriety. She’s also in the middle of repairing her broken relationship with her mom (Sharon Stone).

Meanwhile, after almost being framed and killed, Cassie, who has become a CIA asset, helped uncover a mole at the agency. Later on, she also foils another attempt on her life after discovering that her fellow AA attendee Jenny (Jessie Ennis) wanted her dead at the urging of Feliks (Colin Woodell) who continues to rot in jail.

Overall, The Flight Attendant delivered a solid second season. And while critics may have praised the first season more, the consensus is that the series still delivered several satisfying twists. More importantly, there is still a lot of praise for how Cuoco portrayed Cassie’s struggle with alcoholism.

The Flight Attendant Showrunners Say ‘There’s Always More Story’ For Cassie

With all the loose ends in season 2 tied up nicely, The Flight Attendant showrunners Natalie Chaidez and Steve Yockey made it clear that they intended to give fans a complete story, whether the show gets picked up for a third season or not.

“Our goal, and I hate to say this, but our goal is to make sure when we get to the end of each season, that could be the end; that people will feel satisfied and emotionally with her, where she’s off to next,” Yockey explained.

Meanwhile, in the matter of where Cassie is off next, they also have some ideas. For starters, it can’t be more of the same. Cuoco’s character has to grow a lot more.

“I feel like this chapter of her story has been told. Someone asked, ‘How many times can you emotionally traumatize this woman and get enough television out of it?’” Yockey said.

“I think if there were to be additional seasons, it would be a new case, a new adventure for her to get caught up in and, how does that upend what’s happening in her personal life, her personal growth? So, I think there’s always more story for her, but I think she’s on the right path.”

At the same time, however, a new season for the show would still touch upon Cassie’s journey to sobriety as she tries not to fall off the wagon again. “We talk a lot about how recovery isn’t a one-year, one-season, two-season journey; it’s a lifetime journey,” Chaidez explained. “So, there’s always a place to go with that, and that was exciting to me and Steve while diving into season two.”

How Does Kaley Feel About A Third Season?

And while the series’ showrunners appear to be open to a third season, it seems that Cuoco believes that the show has already reached a point where it can end its run nicely. “I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed,” the actress remarked. “I mean, we've done so much this season. Even in the eight episodes, we've done so much story that I'm thinking, Well, what could we do next?”

At the same time, however, she also acknowledged that she can’t ignore everyone’s pleas for a third season. “Now, I'm like, 'Well, we did two. We should probably be done.' And I think I've been outnumbered with that thought,” Cuoco admitted. “There's definitely interest in doing a third season.”

If that were to happen, however, the actress wants to approach it carefully and thoughtfully. “Some of my favorite shows on TV take some time to come back, and then I get very excited about a new season,” Cuoco explained. “I want to make sure that the fans are excited and that we're not pushing it too hard.”

Where Can You Watch The Flight Attendant Online?

HBO Max subscribers can catch both seasons (and possibly more) of The Flight Attendant on HBO Max; subscriptions start at $10 per month or $100 per year.

Following The Flight Attendant season finale, fans can expect to see Cuoco in several upcoming films. This includes the comedy Meet Cute with Pete Davidson. Meanwhile, the actress is also executive producing the upcoming thriller Role Play, which Cuoco is also rumored to be starring in. Perhaps, at some point, she’ll circle back to The Flight Attendant once more.
