There is a big double standard in the world, especially in Hollywood. When it comes to female celebrities, people don't treat them with the amount of respect they deserve. Many times reporters ask not so great questions, like the classic 'what are you wearing?' Sometimes, they may ask a question that comes off as sexist.

There have been numerous female celebrities who have shut down these reporters and questions. It's not fair that women are sexualized and held to less of a standard than men and then have to sit back and endure these questions quietly - questions that would never be asked to men.

10 Taylor Swift

In a May 2019 interview with Germany's DPA, Taylor Swift was asked if now that she's turning 30 would she be settling down with boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn. She shut down the question fast stating, "I really doubt men get asked the same question when they turn 30. I'm not going to answer that question."

Swift has shut down sexist comments in the past, especially since she has become more vocal about equality and a woman's place in the music industry. She has been an inspiration for many.

9 Emma Stone

During a Teen Vogue interview in 2012, Emma Stone got asked a question about her blonde hair. Her 'Spiderman' co-star and former boyfriend, Andrew Garfield, replied with, "I don't get asked that question."

Stone replied, "You get asked interesting, poignant questions because you are a boy." The reporter explained: "It's sexism." Stone completely agreed. The Oscar winner deserves to get asked better questions than the color of her hair.

8 Simone Biles

On Season 24 of 'Dancing With The Stars,' Tom Bergeron asked four-time Olympic Gold medalist, Simon Biles, why she didn't smile after receiving compliments from the judges. Biles is known for her smiles and giggly personality but after you've just completed a tough dance, sometimes you want to relax your face.

Biles had the perfect response for the former host. "Smiling doesn't win you gold medals." Needless to say, Bergeron got really quiet after that.

7 Blake Lively

In April 2017, at the Variety: Power of Women New York luncheon, Blake Lively was asked about her go-to "power outfit." She told the reporter that there is a time and place for that topic and it clearly wasn't then or there.

Lively was being honored for her work with the Child Rescue Coalition. "Come on. You want to talk about an outfit here?" she asked. "Would you ask a man that? You wouldn't ask a man what his power outfit is, I'm sorry."

6 Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson is another female celebrity who doesn't let sexism continue. She has shut down sexist questions many times. One example, in particular, was when she was getting interviewed by American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest.

Seacrest asked if she was going to wear the same shoes to the award show that she was wearing on the red carpet. Johansson scoffed and said, "What a ridiculous question!" She has also been asked about her diet for her bodysuit for Black Widow while the men got insightful questions.

5 Natasha Lyonne

The Orange Is The New Black star Natasha Lyonne let an interviewer have it in 2015 when they asked 'how two beautiful ladies,' referencing her and her co-star Samira Wiley, 'could do scenes where they had to portray angry, fighting women.'

She replied with "I feel like it's accidentally maybe a little bit misogynistic because it's like, "You're so beautiful. What's it like to have to do all that acting? It's insane if that is what you're asking."

4 Cate Blanchett

At the 2014 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, Cate Blanchett told off the cameraman, in the middle of her interview, when he panned the length of her outfit. "Do you do that to guys?" she asked. "What do you think is going to happen down there?"

The answer to the question above is no, they don't do that to men. However, the reporter was also in the wrong for asking about her outfit. The cameraman was only following her lead. She continued to ask about fashion after Blanchett scolded the cameraman.

3 Keira Knightley

At the Hollywood Film Awards in November 2014, Keira Knightley shut down a sexist question - big time. The reporter asked her how she balanced home life with her personal life? She scolded him by responding with, "Are you going to ask all the men that tonight?"

In case you're wondering, no. They weren't going to ask any of the men that. Women have to face a stigma that just because they're a mom they can't also have a career, but dads never get asked that question.

2 Rihanna

In October 2014 at the Rogue Fragrance reveal, Rihanna made it clear that she didn't need a man. A reporter asked her what she looked for in a man? To wear this cologne? She replied with, "I'm not looking for a man. Let's start there."

Also, at a press conference for the movie, Battleship, the singer was first applauded for her success then asked about who she was dating and if she had a thing with Ashton Kutcher. Rihanna let them know that was a disappointing question and she is happy and single.

1 Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is not one to hold back when she thinks a question is sexist. In a 2015 radio interview with Power 106's The Liftoff, Grande was asked if she had to choose would she rather use her make-up or her phone one last time.

She responded with "Is that what you think girls have trouble choosing between?" "Do you really go anywhere without your cell phone?" the radio host asked. "Yes," she replied.
