While many people love all seven seasons of New Girlsfans really love two episodes of the sitcom, especially "Spiderhunt" where Jess and Nick had a hilarious misunderstanding. It was always fun watching Jess and her male roomies, especially as she started falling in love with Nick and they had a very on-again, off-again love story.

The series aired from 2011 until 2018 and when fans had to say goodbye to it, they were definitely bummed out. Max Greenfield has had a great career since playing Schmidt, and star Zooey Deschanel voiced the character of Bridget in the 2020 movie Trolls World Tour.

Fans will always miss New Girl and that begs the question, will there ever be a reboot of this popular sitcom?

Jake Johnson's Interview

After watching Jake Johnson star in the animated show Hoops, fans of New Girl are once again reminded of how hilarious the actor was portraying Nick Miller.

Jake Johnson went on the Third Aid Kit podcast produced by Slate and said he would love a reboot of New Girl.

According to Elite Daily, he said that he and the other actors are still in touch, which is definitely what fans want to hear, and they are often texting one another.

Johnson also explained, "When we were going away, Fox was being pretty cool and saying like, 'We don't want to cancel you, but nobody's watching.' So when we did our final season, Zooey Deschanel and I literally wrote an email ... asking for more, for the few OG fans who stayed with us. You can't end the way Season 6 ended where it was rushed. I was like, 'Give [creator] Liz Meriwether the time to finish this right.'"

This wasn't the first time that the actor had talked about coming back to play Nick Miller once again.

In May 2018, he called it "a great run" and, according to Entertainment Weekly, he said, "Realistically, hopefully, in 10 years we’ll be doing more New Girl. I’m not thinking of this as the end of New Girl, I’m thinking of this as a pause for New Girl.”

What Lamorne Morris Said

Lamorne Morris would also be happy to play Winston on New Girl once again. According to Metro.co.uk, he was interviewed on Good Morning America about Woke, his latest acting project, and he said, "Absolutely, especially now during quarantine and people are being really careful on set. We’re a small cast, I would definitely love to do a reboot for the fans, it would be fun."

He continued, "As long as there’s no Jake Johnson there, then I’m good. The rest of the cast is fine with me."

Saying Goodbye

As it turns out, while filming one of the final episodes of New Girl, Jake Johnson actually injured his hand, and this meant switching up how the show wrapped up its seven-season run.

According to Bustle, Johnson explained, "I broke my hand. Dermot Mulroney, he just thought we were doing a fierce indie out in the jungle but we're doing New Girl! We were trying to do a wrestling scene and we banged against a wall. I knew something happened immediately."

When the actors came together to film the series finale, that meant that Nick would have a cast. There was definitely no way around it.

While viewers had to mourn the end of New Girl, the actors did stay in touch. The cast got together to film a clip to inspire people to vote in the November 2020 U.S. election. Entertainment Weekly reported that Johnson, Deschanel, and Morris all played Nick, Jess, and Winston, and Zoe-Lister Jones was also there, playing her character Fawn, who once dated Schmidt.

Deschanel shared with Deadline in 2018 that while she felt it was "time to move on," she was sad as she really enjoyed working with the cast. Deschanel compared to being on New Girl as being in "high school" as it was "a constant" in her world and she went through so many major changes in her life while playing Jessica Day.

Deschanel explained, "It’s been with me [as] I got married, I had two kids, and all these people, I’ve become close with— the cast and the crew. It’s been kind of like the center of my life for so long, so it’s really important for me, personally as well as professionally."

While fans would love a reboot of New Girl and it sounds like Jake Johnson would really enjoy if that happened, no one is sure if that will actually come true. In the meantime, watching New Girl from the start is always going to be an awesome choice.
