Zack Snyder, began his career by bringing a horror genre back to life – that of the zombie apocalypse. Back then, he gambled and chucked a successful career as a commercial director, the result of which was Dawn Of The Dead.

His recent project, Army Of the Dead, isn’t a sequel, but pertains to the same genre as his 2004 debut.

Aside from directing Justice League and reading up on the finer points of zombie psychology, Snyder has been forming a script in his mind that would require Amy Adams to begin bodybuilding.

In fact, while filming Justice League on a green-screen heavy day, Snyder took Adams aside and pitched her the idea, which he had already been mulling over for some time.

Snyder told Adams that he has been meaning to make a movie similar to The Wrestler for quite a while. As he said to the Telegraph, “It’s a kind of female version of The Wrestler, about a midwestern housewife who happens to have a pretty good body, and starts to do some bodybuilding competitions.”

The Wrestler is a popular movie featuring Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. At the forefront, Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Rourke) who was a wrestling hero in the 1980s, is struggling 20 years later and has been told by his doctor to take things slow - something he doesn't want to see as an option.

Cassidy (Tomei), his love interest, faces the same professional struggles as him, as she is comparatively older than the other girls at the stripper club.

The screenplay, written by Robert Seigel, brings an excruciating tale of a man’s loneliness to the screen.

Rourke was widely praised for his performance, which won him an Academy Award, and for bringing the realities of a career decline and loneliness to screen with raw vulnerability. The movie ends with the realization that Ram’s true family are the fans who supported and followed him throughout his career.

In Snyder's version, the protagonist, due to her high ambitions, would begin taking drugs and supplements to improve her performance. The movie then transforms into a war between her love for family and her love of fitness, as her spending supplements, drugs, and trainers threatens to tear her family apart.

Snyder believes that Adams would be great for the role, as it requires someone who deeply loves acting. As he explained to The Telegraph, “it would be such a hugely hard job just training to the point at which it was believable. And you need someone like Amy who loves the craft to do it.”

The project has been discussed at length, and Adams does seem excited about it. The script, however, has not yet been written.
